Keaton was very active in the 50s and not "drinking more". A few of his films, like THE GENERAL and COPS, were still circulating.

Transferred to safety stock as they were about to turn to dust. Hard Luck (once thought a lost film) was eventually restored over many decades from numerous fragmented prints. Finally completed only a few years ago.
