I am the mate/opening act. I drove Jim to the hospital, filled out the forms and then raced us to Ottawa and went straight on. This is all true and Jim handled it like a champ. Shout out to the hospital in Kingston and the top crowd there and in Ottawa. 🙌🏻

@@MiBzAn Thanks so much man. It was nuts. After the hospital we had to wait in a Shoppers forever while they got his meds (more people spotted him,) then I genuinely floored it the entire way to the show. I left Kingston about an hour before the gig was supposed to start. Pretty wild. I am also the guy that was in the back of the police car with Jim (he tells this story) often and in some other adventures of his. That was a fun a kind of crazy though. This was simply mental. Tough to see your bud in pain. Again, such a trooper!

Never had a baby, but I've had 3 kidney stones in the last 30 years. They really suck. My 2nd one, I had forgotten what all the hospital did to cut the pain, so I figure, I don't need to go to the hospital, I can pass it at home. Long story short, after 3 days in agony so bad, I was rolling around on the bed. The pain does ebb from time to time, and you might get 20 minutes of sleep, and it's right back at it. So after the 3rd day, I still haven't passed it, my wife's had enough, and I ended up in the emergency room anyway. 3rd time I just went in.

My father has always had a super pain tolerance, and also hates going to doctors. When he had a kidney stone, I knew the pain must have been unbearable, because not only did it motivate him to go to the ER, but he did so in the middle of the night. I laughed through Jim’s pain! We need a kidney stone story book or something bc I have a feeling every tale has moments that are comedy gold. My 11 mm stone left my kidney while I was riding home from university on the back of a VERY SMALL vintage Honda motorcycle. Clinging to my friend for dear life, covered in sweat, while we hit every bump on the road and I tried not to pass out and fall off. Turns out jiggling the entire body does not help the kidney stone pass more smoothly. 😅

It is hard to describe the excruciating pain of kidney stones. It’s the only pain so intense that I could not think of anything else AT ALL but the pain. You end up pacing the house like a caged animal. You can’t stop moving because you can’t find a position that eases the pain and if you stop moving it hurts worse. I’ve passed several over the years. I wouldn’t wish that pain on anyone.

I forgot to add: I love how Jim literally told it how it is in our ERs! People think "ohhh it's Canada! Free Healthcare! They're rolling in good times!" NOPE. Unless you're literally walking with your head split open and brain hanging out or are flat lining, get comfy in that waiting room.. Typically, you're in the first waiting room for a few hours, then the next one for a few more hours. Then you get a bed and most people pass out from exhaustion from waiting by this point.. then the nurse bursts in yelling your name so you may have a heart attack to top of lf your other ailment(s). Then you wait another hour before the doctor sees you. Then you go for testing... another hour.. then wait in the waiting room for results for a few more hours, providing no one forgets to tell you your results (yeah, you lose your bed the moment they send you for tests). ER round trip takes around 12-16 hours. Also our Healthcare isn't "free" we pay for it with our heavily taxed everything! 😅

I've passed 7 kidney stones in the past 25 years and it's truly the worst pain I ever felt. It can take two or three days for the stone to pass, and during that time all you can do is lie in bed and curl up in a fetal position in bed and try your best to tolerate the waves of pain. You will find yourself pacing back and forth and sitting on the toilet trying to "push" the stone out of your body LOL. There are short periods where the pain goes away, but it always comes back until the stone passes. If you can get to an ER, then you will get relief --- mine was usually a shot of Toradol which works wonders! Morphine also works good. I discovered that drinking a lot of tea (hot or iced) usually caused my stones. I also got a stone once after eating a a lot of pepperoni as a snack food for two months straight. So there are definitely certain liquids and foods that cause the stones!

I've had 2 kids one completely natural and 2 kidney stones. The pain from the kidney stone hurt soooo much more than natural childbirth I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone!

It’s true- I’ve had a kidney stone and children and the kidney stone hurt worse. However I think back pain hurts more. Maybe having babies doesn’t hurt as much because afterwards you’re so happy. But my sister watched me give birth and she told me later she didn’t want to go through that.

Anyone here remember the moment of entering the hospital- for the birth of your second child- & suddenly remembering in a rush, why you’d sworn (at the time) you wouldn’t have any more, after the first?😱 When I look back, & remember the alarming shock, of that moment in time, it genuinely makes me lol. In my mind’s eye, I see it almost as a cartoon 😂🤣

Was in the ER last week with Kidney stones! There is just nowhere to go with the pain and nothing to do about it, all I could say was F#*k! F#*k! F#*k! and writhe in pain! I wish I could describe how much this hurts, there are just no words. I passed a 6 mm.

Childbirth is not the epitome of pain threshold in women, but I have heard from others that endometriosis pain can more commonly mimic kidney stone pain and is actually comparable.

This is a really accurate explanation. When mine moved from the bladder to the ureter, I could not stand. I could not stop vomiting. I was at work, an hour away from home. I have never made that trip faster and I checked into an emergency room. Now. If you're bleeding profusely, or have serious trauma, or you're clearly dying, they will bring you back right away. Another way to get back is to ask the nurse - hey your bathroom is out of order. Do you have a place where I can vomit? Right this way, sir, as they whisked me back with my unbuttoned pants falling down. It's up there with breaking a leg. Not quite, but it's close.

Just caught this clip. I always get a kick out of Jim's comedic stories. I first heard him on Sirius XM on one of my long drives. But anyway, I just want to thank you for being nice and saying nice comments about canadian people, there's still a few azzholes out there, but that's beside the point. That shows you're a class act by respecting the people who attended your shows here in Canada, Thank you, and bless you, Mr. Jim Jefferies👍🙏 .

I had the same experience. Kidney stones thinking it was appendix. Screaming like hell at the ER. But for me morphine didn't work, so theu gave smth else. All I remember is the bill was 20 thousand dollars. Btw, I gave birth naturally. Kidney stones hurt more 😅

In Australia, all of that would be ‘free’ and covered by the 2% medical tax levy we pay. No one should have to pay for basic medical stuff.

6 to 9 kidney stones a year, since i took Ibandronate for osteoporosis ... in 2007. I have gotten used to it now - except when the journey of the stone stops about 2 inches before the exit... Gods great plan!!

Just went through that three weeks ago. At Noon my back hurt, by 4pm someone had to pick me up off the floor. Stone was too big to pass. Had to do surgery. Humbling when your bladder wants to pee anywhere it wants to.

I was at work one night for my shift. There were only 10 people in the place. But then we hear a loud moan and scream through the building. It turned a co-worker has passed a kidney stone. He went home and passed another, passing out on the bathroom floor. He cleaned them up, putting them into a small collector's display case. He did a show and tell the next night showing off his stones.

The irony is at the end of the story he talks about not being told to give up broccoli but that is actually one of the things that could help! Broccoli has tonnes of oxalate and that is the very mineral most kidney stones are made of!

i'm surprised the hospital in Canada didn't use lithotripsy (either shockwave or laser) to break up the stone. i had shockwave lithotripsy done, felt like small electrocution (or snapped by a rubber band continuously) until the area felt kinda numb. and then back in the room i just drank a lot of water, jumped up and down for a while to help(?) push the pieces down, and peed. i didn't feel the pieces going out.

I've had some horrific bouts with stones and subsequently learned that there are ways to mitigate the growth. For me it has been working well. First of all, certainly drink a lot. But the big thing was one glass of water with fresh squeezed lemon every single day. I feel his pain. One time in an ambulance, I told the attendant to please relieve my pain, or hit me to the back of the head with a 2x4. And I meant it.
