He convinced them that they weren't committing suicide but comitting "revolutionary suicide". 🙄 As if there's a true difference.
@lancebaylis31692 жыл бұрын
Yeah, his logic was bizarre. Commiting suicide is bad -- he often claimed in other tapes that people who commit suicide live in a virtual loop reincarnating in lost bodies of torment for eternity -- but the events of that final day were a stand against an unjust world. That's why they made the tapes and documented everything, too. On the off chance that someone, somewhere, in some distant future, would become inspired by them and pick up their gauntlet. Those who do not remember the past are fated to repeat it, indeed. I suspect if Jones was right about suicide, then there are many poor, lost reincarnated souls from that fateful day in 1978, wandering around unaware that their bad luck in life comes from their past life following a madman to the grave.
@jessihawkins9116 Жыл бұрын
It was not suicide. It was a revolutionary act. As father said “So my opinion is that you be kind to children, and be kind to seniors, and take the potion like they used to take in Ancient Greece, and step over quietly; because we are not committing suicide - it's a revolutionary act.”

So creepy how he recorded all this stuff. Why? Who was he documenting all this rambling & torture for? Even the deaths were captured on record, which is highly odd. Who thinks of taping a mass murder/suicide in the middle of the jungle as all that chaos is going down? It's just very strange. So much of Jonestown's daily happenings were recorded on tape, video or paper. You'd think someone that paranoid wouldn't want any evidence of his abuse & law-breaking.

Goes to show one has to think about what someone says, and - more importantly - about who someone is. Rhetoric means nothing: it’s who the person is and what that person does, their behavior, that’s important. For example, a militant vegetarian shouldn’t embrace Hitler merely because he was a vegetarian. Nor does his being a vegetarian invalidate that diet. But it doesn’t make him a good person any more than Jones’ professed anti-racism made him good. The guy swindled hundreds of black people out of their money, and eventually, their lives. That’s about as racist as someone can get in my book.

Jim Jones was a Democrat and linked to CIA. He recorded everything because the tapes where being studied. The power structure was amazed how a white man could entrance so many blacks/minorities to follow him to the ends of the earth. Many of his tactics are still used today by white Democrats against minorities to manipulate them and keep them in power. Struggle sessions also known as catharsis, promising them utopia, how they are constantly in danger for the "other", promising them money and freedom and how only they can provide it. Reminds me more of Joe Biden than Trump. Even they slurred speech and mumbling. Even Joe's own VP called him a racist. Trump seems to be the boggie man the Democrats need to keep minorities as their voting block and under their thumb. I don't align to party politics, so for me, I don't have a dog in the fight. But if you want to talk about who is more like Jim Jones, Joe Biden is. Or any white Democrat. They are dangerous and use minorities to keep themselves in power. Chilling, actually.
