I'm an artist; and Jim lee makes me feel like I literally don't deserve to be called an artist
@bolloxmagee44098 жыл бұрын
***** thanks. About a year or two ago I started drawing anatomy and have bought a book Jim lee recommended actually by George bridgeman. I'm more confident in my drawing abilities, but Jim lee made me question how far behind I am to where I want to be

I see Jim doing these "sketches" all the time. He does them reasonably fast. Why doesn't he just do a short stand alone story one of these days? I mean I know he does monthly stuff, but I wish he would just take a break from that, knock out a few stand alone(s) or annuals with just his pencils/inks/and washes. I would pay to see a book done like that. In fact I'd rather see a book like that than most collaborative efforts being published today. Great job and thanks for sharing.

Rebirthing57 try Bristol board and the pages are measured out to 11 x17 your gutters should start at 10 x 15 and you work within those boundaries the do make comic Bristol board with blue non reproductive ink on it to give you the perfect preset measurements most art stores and craft stores have it thats India ink inking is done with nibs and brushes the more popular most artist today use a pocket brush it's a marker brush hybrid you can find disposable or refillable version all of these products can be purchased online

Frankly you don't know if it's mine, no more than I know the work you showed is yours. Really you can believe what you want, I'm doing this for my own ego, because I know it's mine, I know it's old, and I know what I can actually do, which is better than what I'll show you. Wait a week, I have a speech to give today, a date to go on after that, and another speech Wednesday. I'll go to my storage unit Thursday and take some pictures of whatever is laying around, all of which is over 2 years old.

@AtenAkaAton111 жыл бұрын
Also as I stated, it's obvious you don't know the technical aspects of drawing based on what you typed. To even think to compare Jim Lee technically speaking to Ross or Quitely is literally absurd. You can like Jim Lee more because you love his style, splash pages, and over all tone, but technically speaking he is nowhere near Quitley, much less Ross.

@AtenAkaAton111 жыл бұрын
I was comparing their pencils, and only their pencils. If the drawing on your KZbin page care current, you are NOT very skilled, to say the least. Sorry to break it to you, but Jim Lee's talent is a dime a dozen. When it comes to anatomy, story telling, perspective, detail, etc. Jim lee is no where close to Ross or Quitely, no where close. Jim Lee isn't horrible, he's a good solid splash page artist, but his paneling is pretty poor, his anatomy just average, and perspective sub-par.
@zekesalazar76435 жыл бұрын
Alex ross uses reference for everything he does. Jim does these from his head. You can go on all you want but art is subjective. Ross and Lee are both good in different ways and there really isn't any point on arguing about it and then personally attacking people because they disagree with you.
@AtenAkaAton111 жыл бұрын
Frank Quitely is very different and miles ahead of Jim Lee, so is Alex Ross. There are many artists far better than Jim Lee. Don't get me wrong i like a lot of Jim Lee's work, he even does my favorite Batman, but he isn't the best.
@AtenAkaAton111 жыл бұрын
Yeah, sorry but your "talents" are non-existent, you're at beginners level. I haven't started networking, but if you want, I'll put some pics up of my work. You probably won't even believe it's mine, if you genuinely think you're 'good'.
