This man was at the forefront of the golden age of Marvel / X-men. Responsible for giving us the most iconic looks and artwork ever known! Thank God we still have him. Everything artwork for X-men I can't help but judge against the high standard and style of Jim Lee.

Another artist I loved from Jim Lee's era was Mark Texeira. I especially liked his work on Wolverine and character's peripheral to the Weapon X story lines. It had grittiness to it. It really brought out the violence in certain characters like Wolverine. I first saw his art in the Sabretooth series. Jim Lee's art has always been dynamic and clean. All the characters seemed larger than life and powerful. He posed each character expertly to convey their personalities and intentions. When I was teaching myself how to draw comic book characters, I was heavily inspired by Jim Lee and to some degree, Jack Kirby and John Romita.

My Favorite Comics were definitely from this era especially the Xmen series. Newer stuff digitally I am actually not really into. It doesn't have that nice hand drawn look to it. I am definitely more of a traditionalist but enjoy some vector and some digital art too of course but definitely love Jim Lee and his generations comic style pencil drawing and inking more than the newer stuff.

@@GLASSGHOSTHUNTERS lol, I know. I was at a small event in Arizona and he did a sketch of Nightwing. I won’t be Ben mention how good it was, because it was awesome. The other incredible thing was he did it rather quickly while explaining what made him look like Nightwing as opposed to how he draws other characters such as Batman or Superman. It blew my mind at the time of his knowledge and skill. He didn’t just draw it, he explained the considerations of what made him look the way he did. It was memorable to say the least 😂.

He only did variant covers or 1-2 issue cameos. He did a few issues of stormwatch and deathblow etc just to pump up the sales I presume.

Interesting to hear the narritive I basically virtually heard back in the 90s when recreating your works... Imagine that, I actually learned something. Now if I only had all those drawings... Now, I still do all this intuitively thanks to the many examples you've shared with us. Really though, to actually have to opportunity to hear you throughout the process is awesome. I can't honestly say everything I know is thanks to your work, but it's not a distant stretch regarding my love and affinity for crosshatching and inking. It always blew me away to know how fast you were back then, as I was so meticulous in placing the exact lines both in weight and form, and your proficiency is still so impressive. That said, I've come a long way and I'd be interested to know what you've to say on your assention since then when you were already so close to the zenith back then.

I just started doing digital art, but still love doing traditional art. I been going back to inking with dip pen and brushes with additionally with microns. I been drawing since I was small, don't do it as much now, life got in the way, but starting to draw more again. I just finished taking a figure drawing class to help to draw figures better and enjoying drawing again.
