He uses strikes to take down opponents and submit them or he uses the threat of a takedown to set up a knock out. That is a well-rounded mixed martial artist. Regardless of whether or not he ever won a title.

He was never the best, he was just really good for a really long time. Jim definitely deserves it. The man has been in the ufc for 15 years and has defeated 24 men. Fighting 41 times in the ufc. Beat Donald, oliveira, gomi, guillard, duane ludwig just to name a few. Nearly always puts on a show and will be remembered as a legend. If ronda can get in there (she only had 2 real fights, 2 women who could fight back, lost both) then so can jim!. Mega career. Put cowboy, dan henderson, and mike bisbing in there aswell. All legends. One fought every week, one could knock the lord himself out with that hook and had amazing fights every time he got on the mat, and the last one fought for years with 1 eye, telling nobody he couldnt see. Its not a champions only club. Its Hall of fame. You do something for the company that very few or no one else has done you get inducted. Winning championships is one way to be a hall of famer. Equally important is longevity promotion and holding record. Why shouldn't they matter ? Great take from Chael. You’ve got guys like Cody, Tim Sylvia, JDS, who struck lightning in a a bottle one night and became champion. All great fighters, but when you look at the whole body of work…it’s not nearly as impressive. In no other sport is being a champion a prerequisite to be honored in the HoF. Body of work and longevity has to be a factor. Jim deserves it.

I think the problem we're seeing is that the UFC started a Hall of Fame too early into the existence of modern MMA. Most sports didn't officially have a Hall of Fame until decades after the sport had started, so there were several generations of precedent set to get a better gage of where the "bar" is. And it's still a problem in many sports, what was good enough for the baseball Hall of Fame 40 or 50 years ago is pretty common today, there are a lot of players who got in back in the 60s or 70s that probably wouldn't be on the ballot for 2 years if they had put up the exact same numbers today, 300 or 400 homeruns just isn't as big of a deal as it used to be. UFC is experiencing these growing pains in Hall of Fame credentials, times 10, since they started a Hall of Fame pretty much right when the OGs started retiring.

Daniel also say Khabib is the goat. Khabib only has 13 UFC wins with 6 of those fighters being in the top 10 at the time. Nobody even knows the names of his other 16 opponents lol. I would bet the house if Khabib fought all the fighters Jim fought he would have taken a loss for sure. Jim deserves to be there as much as Khabib does. I will bring the receipts.
