It's arrangements like this that will introduce folk music to a new generation and show that it is not all about earnest old geezers with a finger in the ear. More power to you!

Phil Heinricy... yours is my nominee for most patronising comment on KZbin.

I remember watching this when it was televised; was a breath of fresh air! As a (very) amateur fiddler I also have to say the strings were truly beautiful.

I really like the song but this artist has completely perverted the timing and rhythm of this classic song. I may just be too used to the classic tune of the song to appreciate his, "innovation."

'Perverted' suggests that anything other than the version you're used to is an abberation. Folk singers will have sung this slightly different over the centuries. It was probably only 'fixed' when it was written down.

To suggest only one iteration of something is valid is ridiculous. When it comes to music, the more interpretations and new versions there are, the better. Why do we want people to be stuck rigid in the past when it's far more liberating to pioneer new ideas and give old songs a fresh lick of paint? Hopefully 10 years later you've gained some sense.
