All WWE wrestlers are independent contractors, not employees. Therefore they shouldn’t have been able to enforce a dress code.

True - you dress according to the requirements of the job. If it requires safety gear, you need to wear it but the company can't specify a brand or anything like that. Since this wasn't when they were on tv, wwe really had no say.

Edge and Molly made a good point about travel accommodations also improving public perception. I don't think business casual clothing is going to make any of the wrestlers look better if they're still driving their own cars or getting cheap airline travel. Ric Flair was also given money to spend on the suits, travel and fine-dining, so I wouldn't say he's a shining endorsement of a mandated dress code.

I have to agree with Molly Holly. If you want to force your INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS to dress a certain way to look "more successful," then the company should be willing to shell out a little more money for individual LUXURY rental cars and first class airline accommodations. But I see how it is - Vince is all A-OK with making the talent spend their own money on nicer clothes, but he's unwilling to spend a little of his own to get them better travel accommodations.

Since I got out of the military I decided I needed to wear easy comfy clothes. Polo shirts are a great balance. As easy as a tee shirt with a touch of class. Jeans can be warm or cool depending on the thickness of the denim. When it’s cold out I ain’t wearing dress pants. As far as shoes.. most important is the footwear. A lot of modern Hollywood Actors slog around, as compared to OLD hollywood where you had to be dressed up to even take out the trash. I personally as a fan didnt care because they're not Hollywood performers, they're rough and Tumble professional wrestlers

I love JR but I do believe for specifically evolution it was Triple H maybe not the rest of the roster but I have no doubt you’re not seeing Randy or Dave in gym shorts for a reason.

The WWF had their most successful era when they let their talent roster be individuals and dress how they wanted to. Suddenly it had to come back because Vince wanted everyone to look like stock brokers? Pfft.

i will listen to JR but this is one those times i have to disagree with him. Wearing a suit doesnt make them look successful at all, it just makes them look all the same like theres nothing special about any of them, at least in their own stuff you'd get to see a part of them.

Compete to dress up but their still at the bottom of the list and don't make the same as Stone Cold , JR trying to ignore the fact even if a wrestler does follow the dress code their value to the company doesn't mean nothing

I don't get this dress code. If the company enforced a dress code according to a gimmick, then sure. Have a "high class" character start dressed up while traveling. If the character is trailer park trash, make them wear pajama pants and a wife beater. If the character is a working class stiff, blue jeans and boots.

Such garbage. Dictating what an independent contractor has to wear out of sight of the audience and not in the performance of their job is just nuts. Carny garbage… it just reeks of McMahon and co. Just wanting to have the image of big-time content creators… and not the carny clowns they were. It’s like there isn’t a labor law they didn’t break.
