Jim: Your presentation and message were superb. I empathize heavily with everything you said. I got a diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease 8 years ago at age 57. Since then I have been very lucky, and am still relatively on a plateau, but I know I could fall off at any time. So, your suggestions for me and for my community are excellent. I agree that informing the public around me that i have a memory disorder is wise. Otherwise, they would and have misunderstood my impatience and fumbliing. When I share my diagnosis, they are almost always more helpful and understanding. It is too bad that relatively few people with memory disorders are willing to share freely what they have, because that puts others into an expectation of normalcy which no longer really applies to me. Thank you for your efforts. I will share what I learned from you. (tears) Jim

Cheering for this guy! So open about his diagnosis! I love that and I think its greatly needed in society. Society needs to understand that this is a disease, not that someone is "going potty" or "getting senile" - they have a disease that's eating away at their brain. If you think about it that way you'll have a lot more empathy I think

i like that he wears a badge that says he has alzheimer's ,sometimes we do not help because we are afraid of offending people even when we notice they are confused.

Thank you for making this, it will continue to be a valuable teaching tool. More perspectives from people living with dementia need to be expressed.
