there are no restrictions on other weapons, only tasers are almost impossible to get. You may buy bulletproof vests, though.

If a mugger bothers pulling a gun and asking for the victim's wallet, it is unlikely that the mugger intends to commit murder. If the mugger wants to commit murder, he will just shoot from behind before the victim even notices. In the scenario described in the video, the mugger pulls a gun to commit armed robbery with a deadly weapon, THEN looks around for witnesses. A mugger who even borderline codependent would look for witnesses beforehand. One that is reckless enough to brandish a gun with witnesses present is probably reckless enough to pull the trigger in the same circumstances.Throwing a wallet would give the mugger a reason to open fire. A mugger who knows what he is doing is not going to ask for a wallet. Instead, he will sucker punch from behind, if doesn't shoot/stab first and ask questions later. Then, once the victim is on the ground, he will ask for the wallet, or just take it himself. Pulling a knife gives the victim a chance to escape or fight back. In a sucker-punch from behind scenario, in which the mugger takes the wallet himself, a decoy might do more harm than good. If the mugger checks the wallet, he would see that it contains fake credit cards and nothing with a name on it. Credit/debit cards can be easily cancelled. True, the mugger would have your name and address, but he would have little reason to target you at your house. A decoy would make sense in a pick-pocketing, which is more common.

I'm getting one right now. You have to pass law test (about three days of study) and show proper handling of the firearm (though you may get jerk commisars). It takes about two months. It is shall issue. The same goes for austria, slovakia and estonia i suppose.

I've also heard to carry throw away keys in the event you are held up in a parking lot or car jacked and similarly throw the fake keys a distance that forces the attacker to look for them while you make your escape with the real keys...

kushxtc: What? a person can't outrun a bullet? No kidding. You're assuming the armed robber is within touching distance. Watch the video again and pick up the finer points. This is a technique when you are in out-of-reach distance and you know the criminal is going to execute you. Be A Hard Target.

when i have witnessed a crime or accident after calling police.. I always use the voice recording feature on my cell phone to memo what happened, make and model of automobile, description of suspect, and what was said at the scene. ETC

I never would have thought of that! Having a dummie wallet is a good idea if you need to escape from a mugger. Granted, the mugger would have to actually chase the wallet and not you. Wouldn't throwing the wallet at the mugger's face possibly anger him and cause him to persue? I would just gesture him with the wallet so he knows it is indeed a wallet, and then throw it behind him causing him to focus on the wallet and retrieving it, giving me time to escape.

What about throwing the wallet at the guy's feet and running away instead of handling it to him (I mean in the scenario where you have no reason to think he wants to kill you)? I heard this advice quite often and I think it makes perfect sense.

depends, as jim said sometimes u have a feeling that the robber is going to shoot u, it is better to have that reaction as an insurance to give u THAT opportunity to run to safety. if u throw the wallet on the floor it is good when that works... but when it dosent then u dnt have the opportunity,

So I assume you're not interested in the deception tactic illustrated at 9:15 of the video? I was thinking of making some photo copies of some large bills myself until they mentioned that part. Actually, just keeping some of my real money in the fake wallet seems even cheaper and easier than trying to create a good counterfeit, and certainly more convincing if someone is stalking me and watching me pay for things out of the same fake wallet I would be giving them.

Yeah, if you're living state side in a rural area where we still have a few liberties left intact, I can see why you wouldn't be too concerned with using this system anymore. I liked the setting for this video being in urban areas of Europe; those poor SOBs have NO rights!

That sounds like a really bad idea. When a gun man has you in his sights, for mugging you or for something else, you better believe he's gonna be on edge. Any slight thing could set him off and make him pull the trigger, if he sees that you're not willing to cooperate then he's more likely to shoot you if you make a sudden move. Best to keep a calm demeanor and comply with his demands as long as they are reasonable. Losing 30 dollars hurt less than a bullet.

Can't you add in fake identification along with the throw away wallet? like put fake money in it, and then put fake identification cards like where you live, phone #, etc. and those identification cards will have the phone # of your supposedly home address which is really the police station's call number and their address instead of your's? it will look like it's real, but when they go rob your house, they end up at the police station.

Uhh, you might land up with a fine or something. It can't be too difficult to fool an honest person with that, so, I don't think illegal copies of bills are good either. I'd just put a $30 worth of 5's or something, if they're after it, it's alright, enough for some drugs and they'll not kill you for being smartassed if you're cornered!

This is plain stupid. Why throw a wallet in an armed assailants face and anger him i.e. give home a reason to shoot/stab you or pull the trigger in reflex to you throwing your fist at him. Common sense would say have a decoy wallet with old credit cards and a wad of low denomination bills in it. Be compliant. Give it to him and 99.9% of the time he'll go on his way. Have your Id, credit cards and spare cash somewhere else low vis and unlikely to be searched in a quick frisk down. This is irresponsible advice from a self defense "expert".
