ATDI without Jim Ward is like Led Zeppelin without John Paul Jones - you've literally lost half the band. Out of every rendition of this track I have heard throughout my life, this is my favourite version. Jim, you're a hero. I'll work with you one day.

This song always reminds me of an old friend who took his life in 2011. He was quite a good street artist. One night, we were at the pub drinking together, and he asked me what I would write if he handed me a spray can. My response was, "I wish I was astronaut." I told him it was a line from this beautiful song. He thought that was amazing. We had planned to go down to the beach and paint it in a big mural along the foreshore. Sadly, we never got that chance. Thank you, Jim, for writing such amazing music. I miss you El 🚀 🖤

I always called this song the first sparta song. It took a long time to realize that it was jim singing lead on this one. But that being said it shows how much cedric and jims voices belong together... it sucks that they cant find a bridge to make that happen any longer. My band just lost our bassist because he couldnt handle we werent heavy enough i guess. I still dont know how to deal with it. With him we were the most synergistic band ive heard in a long time. How does one go on?

I love ATDI but after they broke up I realized the most influential part of ATDI was always Jim. I value Sparta, Sleepercar, his solo projects even more then what ATDI means to me. I am from Las Cruces and I have been your neighbor and fan my entire life. I've shared beers and laughs with you at Hope and Anchor and I know ATDI and Sparta are just bands but your music helped me grow up. Thank you for everything Jim

Sucks me in, taking a ride And I'm wishing for the satellite Grabbing vein pulling down on the radio Laughing at the face that's bending down I'm all alone so far up here And my oxygen's all gone Bend the metal My glory box has failed We're rocking in our reclining chairs Drive away that car That brought us all this harm Those are the pieces of my story line I'm all alone so far up here And my oxygen's all gone Truly stressing realization I wish I was an astronaut Eight hour bitterness all for whose sake Stain glass Sunday school charades

A lot might be said of past drama concerning Omar and Cedric, but one thing has remained consistent, Jim Ward exhibited class and took the high road. The Mars Volta might be my favorite band, but I would much rather share a meal with Mr. Ward. Seemingly a genuinely good hearted guy. Oh, and El Gran Orgo and Inter Alia/Diamanté pale in comparison to everything involving Jim Ward.
@HMT-fi8tv Жыл бұрын
I like El Gran Orgo. I think its one of their better albums. Maybe because without knowing the drama I was introduced to the band on those songs when I was young. It's just really straight forward with good simple lyrics.
