I think the accidental focus problem did actually add to the immersion. I would imagine in our current situation focusing would be a bit difficult after all.

One thing I’ve always liked and respected about Jim ASMR, he actually invests himself into the characters he portrays. He’s not just playing them for the sake of the video, he actually tries to embody the character. So it’s more than just ASMR, it’s almost like a 30-40 minute story.

This was very interesting. As someone who has assisted at an amputation (above the knee, for an adult male, mid 30’s) I can tell you it took 3 of us to carry the amputated limb into the sluice room to be wrapped up for disposal. Once detached limbs, especially legs, are unbelievably heavy.
@90maducc8 ай бұрын

The scriptwriting, the sensitivity, the immersion, the costumes/makeup and ACTING... the sets and props... but above all the delicacy, humor, and incisiveness of your scripts-- each one itself, plus the creativity it took to imagine & execute each different one-- simply impress and satisfy me on every level. You expert multiversal vignette storytellers have the most incredible pocket of ASMR culture that deserves its own genre and recognition. Whatever the rules are, you're making and breaking them. Honestly I just have such an intellectual crush on you. Thank you for choosing this medium to tell your stories, it is truly to our benefit.

This made me remember the time I spent sitting up on the surgeon's table, chatting with that one handsome lad while he was cutting up and later suturing up my foot. The hospital stories that he regaled me with! It's a lovely memory - because, you know, PAIN MEDS. You know, guys, the history of surgery (and the history of painkillers in surgery, or rather - of their LACK thereof until fairly recently ) is one of the most terrifying yet fascinating things you can get into. Read on it. It will eff with your head, I promise.

Except for the really long ones like the knight series, he generally doesn’t write a script. He tends come up with the concept, make the props and the costumes himself and spend time getting into character. He’d spend hours as the character, I don’t know if he still does but when he starts filming he just turns on the camera and goes for it. He has a unique talent and my humble opinion, he’s pretty much the best at what he does on KZbin.

Ok, this insane thing actually happened. I slept in a weird position. When my feet are too cold and can't get them warmed up under the sheets, I try to tuck them bellow my knees. I usually don't actually sleep like that, just wait until they warm back up to be able to sleep cuz them being this cold is too uncomfortable to fall asleep to. Yesterday was exceptional tho. I ended up sleeping with my right foot tucked under my left knee. I woke back up 30mins later with a scare. I couldn't feel my leg. It was insanely numb, it took me a while five minutes to be able to feel it again past the pain of the blood returning to the limb. The position cut my circulation. And by the time I woke up (and after pacing around painfully and desperately trying to get my leg to work again) I look at the screen to see the time and catch a glimpse of you amputating the viewer's left leg. The very leg that almost killed me from pain in that situation. I was still in a daze from exhaustion and pain so I didn't notice that until today when I hopped back into the video to watch it again, and realized what I saw yesterday. So yeah, very immersive experience XD

For me it's Jim's listening eyes that dip me into totally immersive moments of believing the unfolding story is really happening. As in the moment when he is the doc listening to and analysing the heatbeats. I wonder what this doc is recognising in his analysis behind those obviously medically educated eyes ..."DOH! it's Jim's FANTASTIC acting sucking me in again! " I also didn't realise at first that the patient answering "No" to the doc's question at 24:50, was actually Jim's prerecorded voice layered under his own present spoken voice. My first spontaneous thought being "Poor terrified guy" then immediately "DOH AGAIN?! I forgot, Jim's a one man band!" Then the subtle staging, just before the end, of the dawn light and birdsong creeping through the small low window. "Oh it's dawn already doc must be exhausted. Oh it's Jim's clever, fine detailing again....bravo Jim! " The character of the doc is so appealing. A man obviously influnced by a motherly grandmother, instilling a feminine side within his masculine character. So sensitive, knowing how to comfort and genuinely compliment those in need of finding their inner strengths. So strong and steady in himself also. Such an attractive, manly, noble depth of character. Definitely one to swoon over. 🥰 👐

Watching your channel, it almost seems like you have a couple of friends who keep coming up with crazier and more ridiculous ideas for ASMR videos and they keep daring you, like, "Betcha can't make a calm, relaxing video about THIS!" and you just keep flawlessly rising to the occasion, to the point that they're like, "O-oh yeah? I bet you can't make an ASMR video of... of... of somebody getting their WHOLE LEG SAWED OFF!!!" And then you're just like... *Casually takes drag from stage cigarette* "...Hold my beer." On another note, I really like how you're able to convey with your voice that the character you're playing is barely holding it together, too. Like, this is a f*cked up situation for both parties, but the medic is trying to stay strong for the viewer's sake and struggling.
