Exactly. It's like the scam "collection agencies" here in the US that call and tell you there is a warrant for your arrest and you have to pay them money on a Green Dot card to keep from being arrested. I wish folks would stop and think for a moment. If the cops have a warrant for your arrest, the last thing they're going to do is call you and let you know they're coming. In real life, they just suddenly show up and arrest you. That's the whole point.

That old saying, "It's easier to fool someone than it is to convince them they've been fooled" comes to mind. Even when the scammer raised her voice and became berating and abusive toward the victim for talking to the man trying to warn her, the victim didn't want to see she was trusting exactly the wrong people.

I have seen this so much on that catfishing scam, the guy was scammed out of 50k+. The catfishing site showed the guy exactly how they scammed him. The next day he talks to the scammers again and told his so called “girlfriend” that they proved to him that the photos they have sent where stolen and the real girl was on the show saying she never spoke to the man. The scammer said, “That was me, I was on the call with all you guys, I had to say I did not know you because we are not allowed to have a boyfriend why modeling. “ and he believed the scammer. Like you say it’s easier to fool someone than to convince them they are being scammed.

Because in order to convince someone theyve been fooled, that person would have to consider the idea that they might be foolish. Im not saying getting fooled means youre foolish, it can feel that way. You may just be ignorant of certain things. And thats ok. But i can understand why people would be scared of feeling foolish and start getting defensive. I spent 6 years as a care taker for my grandma until she died at 99. Its not just dimentia that makes the elderly prime victims for scammers. And its not that theyre gullible. They can be very distrustful. Its the embarassment about being forgetful and confused. The fear of being a burden or looking foolish if they ask for help or ask too many questions or accuse the scammer of trying to pull one over on them. If you tell them theyre being scammed it can be really hard for them to come to terms with the idea that they *can* be fooled. It can make them feel like maybe they arent capable of taking care of themselves. And thats a very scary thing to confront in yourself. Just try convincing a senior citizen to get rid of their drivers license.

@@WigglyBro The reason why his way of dealing with scammers is better than everyone else's is that he's risking a lot more; a high risk-high return type of thing. What he's doing is technically illegal, and if he's caught he might have to go to jail or even worse. This is why he can't tell us his real name, show us his face, or tell us his method of connecting to the scammer's pc because it's probably some very deep exploit in the network system that nobody but him found out, and if this method is shown or leaked out to the public it will immediately get fixed, making him lose the ability to do this type of thing. In the meantime, more power to the Anti-scammers army. I hope it grows and grows. I'm always receiving suspect emails claiming to be PayPal.
