🎸 Jimi Hendrix Guitar Course [Lesson 1] How To Play Like Jimi Hendrix
Welcome to our Jimi Hendrix player study. We're studying everything that defines Hendrix as a guitar player. This includes his exceptional lead skills, rhythmic prowess, and chord mastery. We'll explore how he seamlessly combined all of these elements to create something truly groundbreaking. From full on fuzz-fuelled rock, to Jimi's trademark chords-with-lead style, Dan will take you through all the technique and theory so you'll be able to create your own music in Hendrix's legendary style.
We'll take you through all the fundamental aspects of Jimi Hendrix's instantly recognisable sound. In Unit 1 we cover a riff based song and the famous 'Hendrix Chord' (technically known as an E7#9) - once you hear it you'll know it! In Units 2 and 3 we really dive into Hendrix's amazing chords plus lead style, using two songs to cover major and minor chords and scales, and the CAGED system to explain it all! In Unit 4 we explore more of Hendrix's straight lead playing. Finally, we give you a chance to try it yourself with lots of guidance from Dan!

Great lesson, thankyou. One thing I was fascinated by though was your ability to "hide" your pick & then bring it back. This is a technique that i just cant grasp & at 52 years old, I dont think i ever will. Would love to see a lesson on how to do this please. Thanks for posting these great lessons. Very much appreciated.

Love the fact that you go into detail for us beginners and really show how to play everything. I watch a lot of videos where it seems the person just wants to get back to jamming and halfway teach the lesson. Definitely subscribing to your channel. Thank you for the lesson- entire video was perfectly executed in my opinion.

Wow so glad I found this channel and website! Just completed the intermediate level 2: Playing Hendrix style on the website and I’m absolutely blown away by how well the lessons are structured and taught! This is coming from someone who has subscribed to many well known KZbin Chanel’s and guitar websites. From what I’ve seen and learned from the website thus far, this may be the best I’ve come across to date! All the things that have frustrated me with others instructors are definitely not found here! Dan is a true master instructor who not only knows how to teach but more importantly how to properly structure, pace and drill lessons like no instructor I’m ever come across to date! He really gives you all that you need to locked things down while also providing all the info needed understand all that he’s teaching. Again Just blown away! I’m definitely subscribed and here to stay!! 😎🎸🎶💯👈

Great lesson, been practicing this and also playing a version of it as a 12 bar by moving the initial riff into key of A by moving it down a string and then playing Hendrix chord on 12th fret as an A and doing a riff in same key tame also doing same chord shape but as a B and then corresponding riff in same key. Sounds great but it took loads of practice to get it right!

Question: Whats the theory behind the E7(#9) fitting the Em pentatonic scale. Any quick explanation? BTW quickly went through the entire series and I've decided to buy this course! I've been in the guitar playing rut since the last 7-8 years! Felt like I've been practicing in circles making very slow progress with office work on the side. I've bought tutorial videos before out of frustration but those did not explain the details which you did. This videos series is just what I needed. Thank-you so much for making it! Brought the material in a way to thank you guys, even though its for free on youtube. The tabs in the material do help though!
@yga
@yga 2 жыл бұрын
Amazing, thank you so much for the support and we're so happy that you are enjoying and finding the workbook helpful alongside the course! 🙌 As for your question there are many shared notes between the E7(#9) and Em pentatonic with the exception on the major 3rd as the #9 covers the minor 3rd but its purpose isn't to fit in, its more meant to stand out and bring tension before going back to Em. Hope this helps!

Jimi loved the studio. They put out a CD with a bunch of studio cut ups on it. And when you listen you will discover, just as I did. Jimi just would jam and bang out ideas onto a recording. You can hear many pieces of his songs in these recordings. Then he would take these pieces and put these ideas and fills into his poems. Making them songs, we watch him in awe because it looks like he plays this music off the top of his head. NO ! He edited his on jam sessions, and reassembled them into music to back up his poems. And before Jimi was known as Jimi Hendrix he played in Black musicians bands across the country as a guitar play not as a front man. So he had lots of practice playing guitar on stage before he Went to England ,played every where he could, and bought funky European flower power / hip-pie clothes . Formed a Band over in England and came Back to the USA as the Super Hero we know as Jimi Hendrix. He came with British musicians and experimental British effects pedals, He came with fresh new poems and after stunning most of the British Music industry Darlings, with his experience in guitar playing as a band member. He found the confidence to sing , because Bob Dylan sang so poorly and made Albums of his Music.
