As you most likely know, Stevie Ray Vaughan was highly influenced by Hendrix. I saw both play. Jimi in L.A. and Stevie in Houston. And Johnny Winter in Austin...... Not to brag! 👅

I saw Jimi and The Experience more than three times. But I was a Jimi Hendrix nut case. I just could not get enough of his music. When he died it was like a big hole right through the middle of me appeared, and I wept and wept and wept.

Hendrix is considered the greatest guitarist of all time. He changed the way the guitar was played and how it sounded, he surpassed music, like The Beatles did. When he came on the scene, people couldn't believe what they were seeing and hearing! Even established, famous rock guitarists were knocked out by Hendrix.

The wife is spot on. It's like the guitar was just and extension of himself. So natural. I got into him in high school in the 80s and like she said he was magnetic. I just watched and listened to anything I could get my hands on.

For more of Jimi live on stage check out "Foxey Lady" live at the Miami Pop Festival 1968 , "Voodoo Child" live at Woodstock 1969 ( better then the Maui version, although the Maui video is restored and looks great the performance is not as stunning as Woodstock ). Also Purple Haze live at Atlanta Pop Festival 70 ✌🏼

Plenty of reactions already on KZbin of Woodstock Voodoo Child. I disagree about Miami Pop foxey lady not being good, you get to see plenty of his charisma. Maui Foxey Lady is cool too but it's hard to make out the lyrics because of the wind and foam wrapped microphone and Jimi even laughingly forgets the lyrics at one point. That said , they are all worthwhile videos because Jimi is phenomenal. ☮️

Dominica you are correct twice. Jimi and his guitar were one. Jimi was on another level. He was ten blocks up the road from any other musical artist then and even now. Like you said every now and then a person is born who receives the gift of playing guitar simply effortlessly, and in fact being almost boring to the player, but so remarkable to mere humans. Jimi was that person. I know, I saw The Experience live more than once, and you can take it from me, they were the BEST. Have you noticed Dominica, Jimi is playing rhythm and melody BOTH AT THE SAME TIME! How can that be? Strewth!! I loved Jimi as an artist. Talented? Talented beyond belief. Jimi was simply on another level totally from all other musical artists. He was light years ahead of his time. Can you imagine? A standard stratocaster guitar, turned upside down and strung to play left handed, which means the strings are reversed and the control knobs are in the way of playing the guitar. Who would ever want to play guitar like that.....Jimi Hendrix. And more too....Jimi could play right handed.....but preferred left handed playing. When Jimi died I wept and wept. So many tears. The greatest loss to music of a generation at age 27. Genius. There were many excellent guitarists back then and even today, but there was only one Jimi Hendrix. In the 50 years since his death I have never seen his like again. There have been many contenders, but they all are simply disciples of Jimi repeating things that Jimi was doing 20 years before them without advanced guitars or fancy electronic sound effects. Jimi was special Dominica. He was really really special. And yes, he had that I don't give a damn confidence. Just so remarkable, so phenomenal, beyond the belief of mere humans. Did you notice Dominica? When Jimi was playing with his teeth he never even missed a beat. How is this possible? Total genius! I love this man as a musician. I was crazy about Jimi back then and I still am. Next song? Definitely Johnny B Goode, Berkeley. Prepare to be amazed. Chuck Berry who wrote the song said that Jimi, 'Played the living crap out of the song.' After that, The Watchtower, a Bob Dylan song covered by Jimi. Bob told Jimi after hearing his cover that the song now belonged to him, and never played the song on acoustic guitar again. Other Jimi songs with The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Purple Haze; Foxy Lady; Fire; Voodoo Child; Cross Town Traffic; The Wind Cries Mary (slow and very deep piece), Also try Lulu Show Jimi Hendrix, Cream Tribute, Full Version....some fantastic and special playing ( I will not spoil it). By the way I saw this on TV in black and white way back in the late 1960's. Glued to the TV! I was a Jimi Hendrix nut case.

I've seen a few of your reactions. You seem like a warm sweet couple. There's already 100 comments so I won't bore you. Others have excellent suggestions for listening. I loved Hendrix when he was alive. (Unfortunately I'm the one that's still around) The female here (sorry, I don't know her name) brought up something that i've pondered for 50 years. At the time Hendrix was using the guitar and playing rock because those were the avenues where he could be creative. With all his use of feedback and pedals, he was searching for sounds that didn't exist. He was ahead of technology at the time but if he lived longer technology would have caught up to him so he could use sounds and other media to create something extraordinary; beyond the guitar and the rock idiom. Thanks for the reaction.

There are videos preserved, but this was long before the music video was invented. His best music is only available as audios. Jimi Hendrix made me LISTEN to music, not just hear it. Most important was "1983...". Maybe not the best, but with most impact on me. Unfortunately shortly after his death. (My school mates saw him live!). Now, 50 years later, I would say "Pali gap" or "Hear my train a comin".

The greatest of them all. Believe me guys, that was just the tip of the iceberg. For more live material, "Johnny B. Goode", "The Star Spangled Banner" (from Woodstock), "Hear My Train-A-Coming" and his masterpiece from his BAND OF GYPSYS album, the incredible "Machine Gun". As for studio recordings, "Purple Haze", "Little Wing" (there's also a brilliant live version), "Foxy Lady", "Stone Free", "Red House", "Manic Depression", "Are You Experienced", "If 6 Was 9", "Castles Made Of Sand", "Bold As Love", "Voodoo Chile", "All Along The Watchtower", "The Burning Of The Midnight Lamp" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)". Start with those, lol.

Watch *Prince* live. Eric Clapton considered him a guitar god and with good reason. No one since Hendrix was the guitar showman he was. Oh, and he played most of the instruments on most of his records, sang the background and foreground vocals (Grammy winner for vocals), and wrote the songs too (Oscar for Best Score). The single most talented musician of the rock era by a WIDE margin.

Jimi was Left-Handed, but couldn't afford a left hand guitar. So he learned to use a right hand guitar upside down and to the right. Look closely, the guitar strings are inverted---the bass string is on the bottom instead of the top & the high string is at the top instead of the bottom! What a genius!

Andrei is 100% right! Genius - which is inherently different (because only a select few or tenuous) is often cast out and ridiculed. Plus, then the criticism becomes a matter of POSITION - where the critics double-down on their statements to “prove they were right”. This went on for years and years but the hard work of this touring band and the fanatically loyal fanbase (pun intended) finally won in the end. This is why they were finally admitted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Thank God this happened before Neil’s passing… but they were very highly loved and respected in Canada - even the first rock artists to become Officers of the Order of Canada in 1996.

Great reaction! Unfortunately, there are not very many of Jimi's shows recorded on video properly. It was very expensive in the 60's to use video or film cameras, so many of Jimi's live shows were not recorded visually, but Monterey was pretty much Jimi's introduction to America and it was recorded pretty good for 1967. Most of Jimi's best sounding LIVE recordings are only audio recordings. Most of the videos of Jimi .... well, they should've been able to video record better shows. Jimi plays Berkeley is pretty good, bits of Woodstock & Maui or okay... but many of what's left are not the greatest... unless you're a huge Hendrix fan, like me.

😂😂😂😂😂Yes, the chewing-gum was too much😂But, it was the first time he came back in USA.....As a french guy i'm very proud to say, the first concert that band ever played was in Paris France, 2 weeks ago.....😂 the guy was very shy in his life.....All the peoples who met him, said he was so shy as a man (he was 1,96 meter heigh😂, a huge guy, that's why he's so special with the guitar, because of the huge hands he had), but once on stage he was another person....A beast.....A monster....All the greatest bands, guitarists, you, already, reacted to on your beautiful channel, are agreed about the fact Jimi Hendrix is not only the greatest guitarist, but the greatest musician of the 20th century.....You ask us to tell you what to listen next, about him?😢I even don't know what to say.....There are too much great things.....Do you want a cool music, a romantic music, a blues, or a real crazy music from Jimi?😂There are too much incredible things to listen about him.....I will let your followers tell you first.....😂After, i will critizise😂(i'm a covard, sorry).....Depends if you prefer studio or live versions too...Jimi created so much things in studio, in 4 years of career, which are still, used today😢.....It's magic.....Sounds, technical skills....It's a genius that's all.....But, he was more impressive live.....But, for that, you will have to listen to more Jimi.....If i have to chose, i would say: "MACHINE GUN", LIVE AT FILLMORE EAST 1970.....OR "VOODOO CHILD", LIVE AT WOODSTOCK 1969.....(the complete 12,30 minutes long version, not the shit cuted version on youtube).....You will be very impressed, and understand why we all say he' s the greatest one ever.....If you want some beautiful songs, listen to "LITTLE WING", or "THE WIND CRIES MARY", or "HEY BABY" (LIVE AT MAUII 1970)......As a blues, listen to "RED HOUSE" ( the guy was improvising all the time so you have 1000 versions😂, but the Royal Albert Hall, london 1969 is great).....Etc, etc....It's so complicate to tell you what to listen.....There are too much incredible things to hear.....Anyway, thanks to have listened to your followers who ask you to listen to Jimi, and i'm so HAPPY, DOMINICA, LIKES HIM😂😂😂😂AND, I'M SURE ANDREY WILL CRY ON JIMI😂👍✌️I'M SURE WE WILL HEAR MORE JIMI ON THAT BEAUTIFUL CHANNEL NOW.....😂😂😂😂😂I ENJOY SO MUCH😂PEACE FROM FRANCE GUYS ✌️

Dear friends, please stop interrupting in the middle of the music, please wait until the end of the song before you give your comments. Also listen to Rory Gallagher ,he is from Ireland. Peace

Jimi Hendrix's career spanned only four years but he is considered one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music. Sadly he died at the age of only 27. He headlined the famous Woodstock Festival in 1969. He had a lot of great songs such as "Purple Haze", "Foxy Lady", "The Wind Cries Mary", "All Along The Watchtower" etc.

What does "popular music" means?😂 Jimi changed the music since 53 years, since he died, 2 days ago, 53 years ago😂😂😂😂😂He changed the whole music.....That's why, 53 years after he passed away, he's, still, a legend, like Bach, Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven, or Jimmy Page (the only genius who's still alive), etc.....

@@sandorhartig3957 because, they have a channel on youtube....They find out songs on youtube! Unfortunetely, youtube is deleting everything from Jimi! There are only, few songs you can see on youtube! And, they don't know Hendrix.....Don't attack them please.....They listened to us, the followers who asked them to listen to Jimi, it's great.....I'm sure they will discover, better things from Jimi! I understand what you mean, it's not a great version, compared to what Jimi is able to do, but, it's not their fault.....✌️
