is that because hendrix was in 432Hz? ....but, ive heard he also tuned to E flat like SRV, so i may be a little wrong somewhere...but, 432Hz would explain the "in between natural & a half step down" thingy....ive read he did tune to 432 Hz, but i dont think that 440Hz was standardized for anything except orchestras until 1975...again, i could be wrong.

Marty, I began to get really serious about playing guitar about a year and a half ago. I was 55 years old then (I'm 57 now) and had tried to get into playing multiple times going back the prior 40 or so years (jeez). At some point in all of those earlier attempts, I became discouraged and lost motivation because of perceived limitations, lack of encouragement, impatience - basically, all the normal stuff. I am convinced that one of the biggest reasons I got past all of that this time around is because of your KZbin lessons. Now, I can play about 125 tunes, and I think I learned at least half of those from you. More importantly, I have gained a true understanding of the instrument now that has helped me to learn new things more quickly, improvise in more creative ways, and build my confidence. I joined an "old man" band last year and am having some of the best times of my life playing music with other people. Thank you for the huge part you've played in all of this. I feel like I owe you more than a 'thank you', but hopefully it will suffice. I look forward to nonchalantly launching into Manic Depression at practice next week and watching the guys' reactions. I don't doubt that it will be added to our setlist posthaste! Anyway, I figured it was about time I let you know how much I appreciate you man. Thanks again.

That’s a good post. I’m right there with you. I picked up the guitar right after Covid. I’m the same age as you and I play every day self taught with Marty being my main teacher and I’ve learned so many songs and techniques from him. It’s amazing.

I was asked to learn this song last night and to bring what I learned to practice tonight. Thanks to you I learned the whole song and got it down before I went to bed last night. Woke up this morning and tried again and still got it down. The only difference is I'm doing it on my 7 string. Keeping things interesting.

Been working on this one! I mostly just can't get the solo but at least now I finally know the term for those bends. The UG tab has some of the unison bends on the B and E strings which is always so uncomfortable to play, I need to remember there's nothing wrong with just moving up the fretboard on the same strings. Thanks!

Thanks for the lesson Marty. Great stuff. I'm a big Jimmy fan, but my son and I have only been learning around a year, so I've never tried any Hendrix as I always thought it would be too hard to even think about. Would love to know the exact amp and pedal settings though. We use a katana and big muff pi. Thanks a lot.

Marty is a really good player but sometimes the tutorials feel to advance for me. Only 2 mins in and I was lost lol I couldn’t see it was 7 5 7 5 on the D string. Maybe this is meant to be more advance but I’m still very new and need the little details like that.
