Freddie and Jimi share the throne for me. Pick up a copy of Vital Signs and hand it down to the next generation. Keep Jimi’s legacy alive.

I am shocked by his speaking voice. I never would've thought he was southern. I love him even more now

That Tennessee voice, I love it! My mother was from Tennessee and, although she lost it while living in California, she could still do the voice. So soft spoken and such a powerhouse when singing.

Great story. Never followed Survivor much, until a friend gave me their vital signs cassette tape as a gift (he would listen to it all the time in our barracks room while stationed in Korea 1886- told him it was a pretty good album!). Never Jammie's roots, came from a very humble place in the USA it seems.

Cool how he never lost that priority of playing live, which came out earlier in the interview (when he said at first he didn't really think about the recording studio). Shows he was thoroughly grounded. Would have loved to hang out with him. Indeed he is missed!

Jimmy got that Memphis draw. He got that going back home for a long time. He did not have an accent when young, because he was in LA and places and friends and band members from around the world. He was a hottie, when with Survivor. 1985 was a great tour and songs were great!

I have just met JJ behind his strong melodic voice.Compared to Steve they both have their own personal pitch.How soothing to listen to this beautifully composed music sung by a man that used his voice as a schooled professional although the art of his love for music sews everything together.A natural!

Yeah. I believe his son discovered him in that unconscious state. How DEVASTATING for him--so much more so than the rest of us!
@samimissy81902 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what prompted me to read through these comments today but as I did I read this & felt it important to reply. Instead of focusing on that the significance ought to be turning the attention to how he lived. He was a good person, a genuinely good person who was kind, humble, sincere, authentic, and above all things he loved his children dearly! Yes, his son was the one to discover him & I am certain that will cause him anguish for the rest of his life as it is not something anyone would forget. But Jimi loved James & was living with him at the time of his passing. They were bonded as father & son should be. He loved Amy & Lacy & was so proud of them all, they were his true legacy along with his granddaughter. They were everything to him. Yes, the circumstances under which his life came to a tragic conclusion are sad and were a surprise to many. But they do NOT detract from the illumination he shone on so many simply because he was. If you knew Jimi then your life was enriched because of it. His spirit was so radiant and positive. To have him as a father would have been an extraordinary blessing as he even embraced the role of step-father completely. I would suggest instead of contemplating what might have led him to incorporate a terrible substance into his body we instead feel gratitude for the incredible accomplishments he achieved as a musician & appreciate that as a human being he was indisputably one of the very best that ever was or will be.

@@samimissy8190 Absolutely! Couldn't have said it better. Thank you for pointing out what's really important. ❤️
@samimissy81902 жыл бұрын
@@litlredhen Not a day passes by where I do not find myself striving to be a better person because of Jimi. Mind you, I falter constantly but he inspires me still in the most extraordinary ways. When I want to react instinctively in certain circumstances I take a moment to ask myself, "What would Jimi do?" & usually, it is the exact opposite of what I might be inclined towards so I re-think my responses. I am indebted to this influence as it has helped me behave towards people I may not care for or respect differently and therefore causing me to be a better person overall. He was never not kind to anyone, not that I am personally aware of. Everyone he met was seen as a friend. That's remarkably admirable! Also, very inspiring! I understand where some might immediately go to where the original person who commented went. That information is valid but it is not where anyone's thoughts ought to remain, not with regard to this luminous, cherished, uniquely incredible person! With all my heart & soul I treasure that my world has the honor of being uplifted continuously because Jimi existed. He wasn't perfect but he was precious. I shall forever hold him in the highest regard & have nothing but respect for who he was. We all make erroneous choices in our lives however, that should never be what people dwell upon. ESPECIALLY when you have enacted the enormous positive impact upon so many which Jimi most certainly did! I have met & known many from that 'world' of working entertainers. Most live only to indulge themselves & are as deep as spilled coffee. Not him! He was a Paphiopedilum Rothschildianum amongst weeds & his life & energy & spirit are irreplaceable! :)
