Ahh, the sound of my formative years. You can here every great band from 1987 - 1997 as the patches pass. Glorious.

Crank the input till red, slowly bring it back until your ears say where. The hotter the input the deeper the effect (as a result of better signal to noise ratio). This higher bit depth ratio results in deeper enriched louder audio.

Cheers, its a cool thing, I use it when tracking vocals alot to give the singer some reverb without the latency of my DAW, also cool for 80s drums. Keep your eyes peeled will be doing some more videos with it pretty soon I think.

When recording guitar with the midiverb but without an amp fx loop, how do you hook it up? Do you need a DI pedal between the guitar and the midiverb, or do you plug straight in?
@JimijaymesProductions
@JimijaymesProductions Жыл бұрын
This video is straight in, with guitar level as opposed to line level there is going to be an increased noise floor but that is how most of the records you might have heard this on are recorded. It can help to have a buffered pedal (high impedance pedals) infront but it does accept hiz guitar fine.

@JimijaymesProductions
@JimijaymesProductions Жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% sure of how the fx loop works in that amp but with a lot of amps it's jacked straight into the power amp which means it's getting that full 50 Watts. I'd maybe gain stage so you are driving into it as hard as possible before it clips and pullback the output gain on the unit, or somehow use it in parallel (you can get line level parallel mix boxes). Fx loops vary so much and can be unpredictable though still probs ly less noisy than infront at full stage volumes (utilising the whole 50 Watts). That said nearly all old budget rack gear is noisy.

Hello, i bought same unit from someone. There is sound of guitar but no effects sound - no matter what i press. Its because im missing defeat switch pedal? I found out that look like there a defeat switch that needs to be connected on back to active effects?
@JimijaymesProductions

Could be that or a broken mix knob. With a simple switch like that you could try plugging in a guitar cable and just shorting the tip to see if it switches

Hi Jimi, a very useful video thanks. Y play The Shadows songs but I know the Midiverb 2 can also offer the special delay and reverbs. My issue is, can this tool be just connected between the guitar and the ampl. Any advice prior to buy it?. Thanks for your advice. Cheers from Barcelona (Spain)
@JimijaymesProductions
@JimijaymesProductions 2 жыл бұрын
Yes it can. It does work before the amp and often that is where it is used, the noise floor is a bit higher this way but that is how it is used in the video. If you are using a high gain amp I'd reccomened the effects loop unless you want the my bloody valentine sound.

I bought it in australia so it is an official alesis power supply. I think it is a 9vAC supply, which you might not be able to get at Jaycar but maybe eBay (I got a 16vAC supply off eBay) just double check it is AC not DC (as is most common).

No there is no power switch, it doesn't draw very much power so it isn't really an issue, I leave mine on when my rack is on, you can always unplug it or switch it off at the mains if its a concern.

Thats what I am practically doing in this video and a lot of guitarists did. It will work fine because it accepts lower signals but the noise floor will be higher especially depending on the condition of the piece but still much less than say a distortion pedal or something.

Can this also work as a guitar preamp?
@JimijaymesProductions
@JimijaymesProductions 5 жыл бұрын
No it doesn't really boost signal without adding alot of noise. The quadraverb gt however is designed for guitar and has an EQ section so this could work although maybe not the best tone. I'd get a cheap guitar preamp like a marshall valvestate or a rocktron if you needed a guitar pre although these days floor pedal preamps are really good.

@JimijaymesProductions
@JimijaymesProductions 3 жыл бұрын
What amp do you have, I use it infront, it has a fairly high impedance so works with guitars but if you have an fx loop it'll be less noisy. You might want to try a parellel mixer or at least a loop box as just bypass will affect your tone but it was classically used infront of the amp, in this demo it is just infront of my amp.

It's lofi it's slightly grainy and pretty dark but that's what makes it kinda cool, prefer it to the early reverb vsts which were similar low CPU Algorithms (though nothing cool like the bloom algorithm) but being 24 bit meant all that nastyness could be heard in the high end. It sounds better than the built in reverbs in my emu proteus 2000. Of course the Yamaha and lexicon stuff sounded 100x better, wasn't around upon release but lots of venues and studios still have spx990 and pcm90s.
