I would have to say that BTS no longer displays that toxic masculinity that they did then. They were younger and had ideas on what a man is and should be. After all, they were brought up in a conservative society. They have changed since then. From their 2017 album Love Yourself: Her, they made a conscious decision to keep all of their songs gender neutral from then on. Also, their style has become more androgynous and they have embraced wearing what is considered women's clothes into their costumes. It was Jungkook who said in Vanity Fair, " Wearing anything you like, regardless of gender." Their stylists dress them in both men's and women's clothes depending on what the mood of the concept is. You see all of that pastel clothing they are wearing in photo shoots or videos, I bet you can find women's fashions among them. Their BT 21 characters were also consciously made to be gender neutral. Their UN speech was about loving yourself, regardless of "who you are, where you're from, your skin color, your gender identity, just speak yourself" in the words of Namjoon The Great. I think they have grown older and wiser.
