I enjoy listening to your thought process on this thank you. Sadly some in government want to shutdown your ability to modify anything on your vehicle. They would like to see all small shops closed and only dealerships for service and repair. The more control they can amass they will,

I've known people that own their own trucks since back in the 80's, most OTR truck will go to a million miles (or more) without any problems and I know of a few local trucks that have done the same thing. From what I've heard, the emissions trucks can be a big pain in the butt and put a hurtin' on your wallet. The emission systems makes the engines work harder than a non-emission engine. Personally I would go with a glider for a used truck. If I was buying a new on it would be a coin toss and depending on the application the truck would be used for would make a big difference in which one to choose. Basically, you have weigh the pros and cons for what you're going to do with the truck before ya pull the trigger. Sounds like you have done all the math, you know what you need and that's what you buy.👍👍

I love looking on truck paper. Prices on pre-emissions trucks is going up like crazy since dealers stocks are low right now. N14 is a great engine and if its a celect plus with 525 you're in the money. Just dont try to tune it up for power. Blocks cant handle it in the long run many blocks have a problem with fretting when additional tuning and power is intoduced.

the #1 decision you will make in trucking is the truck or trucks you buy. Personally we buy brand new with a 5 year warranty on engine-emissions-chassis depending on brand. warranties very. Application matters. Just looked a System's yard this evening and they had 30 to 40 new KW trucks just sitting there ready for drivers. Pretty hardcore.

What does the warranty cover you the time that your truck is in the shop and not making Revenue? Does your warranty cover the fixed expenses of amortizing insurance and IRP registration while your truck is in the shop? Does your warranty pay the driver while his truck is in the shop which is why I left my last job because I never got paid while the truck was always in the shop.

What do we have to do when we have emissions trouble, haul it to the dealer, drive it at 10 MPH to the service center, or freeze to death on a ice road? My advice to you on a day cab is to look at the idling hours more than the miles driven; you will likely be unpleasantly surprised. I was told a story by a guy that bought a late-model truck with low miles which needed an engine rebuild a month after he bought it: the truck had quadruple the idling hours of my 20-year old tractor.

Those in the know are snatching pre-emissions trucks because they want to keep the wheels turning, and not sitting at a repair shop. It is not the engines that are the problems on new trucks ,it's the badly designed emissions systems installed on them. I've been saying it since the beginning that once electric/hybrid truck hit the road in large numbers, manufacturers will finally put some money and r&d into making a emissions system that functions properly. You are spot on about deleting,it brings on too many headaches.I have read several articles about OO's and companies getting life changing fines after being caught rolling dirty.

Your decision not to run trucks deleted I believe is a very good one because I also believe it is against federal law to tamper with emissions equipment on any vehicle whether it's trucks or cars.

Nice video, Even if you paid to much for that Grey Kenworth, you got the clutch pedal of your choice, you told me you didn't like the Peterbilt Clutch pedal. I don't know why I'd even price something I won't buy other than using as a bargaining tool if the price is better than the Kenworth, but that well might work. I know one thing though if you do order a new truck you might have to wait several months to get one the manufacturers are way out there think Peterbilt is around 7 or 8 months out on a ordered truck. Good Luck & your spot on after 400,000 miles on a emission truck it's a crap shoot. The "Free Miles" are long gone.

Why would it be advantageous for your company have an emission delete truck ?

Have you ever thought about sending old trucks out to be refurbished? I work in the fire service and many departments will send older trucks out and when they come back they are essentially getting back a new old truck at a fraction of the cost of a brand new one.

Do you think, with the shortage of Drivers that the price of trucks will fall because the supply will increase due to trucks not being driven ?
@flintcreektransport
@flintcreektransport 3 жыл бұрын
There is also a shortage to build the trucks...... shortage of tires... parts etc.... i think eventually things will level out !!!

Gliders are expensive. I wonder what the future market will be for rebuilt older trucks. Will it be cost effective? Over the last few years I’ve watched EZRIDER 359 rebuild his truck and put it back in revenue service. Maybe something that old is not financially worthwhile, but it worked for him. What do you think?

We never buy second hand trucks 🚚. All of our trucks are bought outright brand new . Although now we are switching from scania to volvo now as the backup is far better. Plus volvo is 30k cheaper than scanias .

Gliders are only going to get more and more expensive due to companies not making them anymore peterbilt made their last glider already. And the n14 is a great motor I've seen one dyno 95% of its original power at 1.7 million without an overhaul
