AWESOME!!! Schindler 5500 MRL Traction Elevators at Hampton Inn in Downtown Houston, TX.

Filmed on April 8, 2017: Since tomorrow is my birthday, I had finally found MY VERY FIRST SCHINDLER 5500 ELEVATOR!!!! :D :D :D Sorry that it was busy, but the staff members in this facility are very friendly! Installed in 2016.

If I had to be honest, I have been on a roll with finding rare schindlers. A couple weeks ago I stayed at a hotel in Galveston that had a 5500 and now I just arrived at another hotel and it has a 3300. I was like how

I don’t believe there is any Schindler 5500s in Galveston. If you’re referring to the one at the newer Holiday inn near the sea wall those are just 3300 with newer fixtures

I've seen a schindler 5500 MRL in Seawood Grand Central Mall. They had LCD indicators inside. When i go down to the basement by the elevator, I could clearly hear the motor. The indicators outside the elevators were as same as the ones in Hampton Inn where you went on. The flashing thingy was outside the elevator. It was different than the one inside the schindler 5500s where you went on. The call fixtures were similar.

I probably won't get to ride one till June when I fly out of of Tampa International Airport as they are installing 42 brand new 5500s there, and the Yorkdale Mall in Toronto which has 5500 elevators. However, there are some buildings and hotels under construction in my area that may have a 5500, let's just hope they do!!!!

DieselDucy 3 elevators for 14 floors, and probably 3 floors for the valet elevator. I know that I normally don't take too much rides when busy; the reason why is because this was my very ever first Schindler 5500 elevator I have ever seen in my whole life.

I do really love schindler 5500. You say MRL for these elevators because such elevators do not require such an expensive cost to make an elevator machine room. So , to reduce cost they have to make MRL traction elevators for such elevators like 3300 , 3300AP , 5500.

ElevatorsinUSA The 1s in Pittsburgh that I know for a fact are @ Southside Works City Apartments, SkyVue Apartments/Residence Inn (Residence Inn not in service since not open yet), & Walnut On Highland. Those are the 1s I know for a fact in the city. Other buildings in the city that I strongly believe have them are Morrow Park City Apts (yes, by the same company that does Southside Works City Apts.), Flats on Fifth, & a few other redevelopment project buildings). Northway technically isn’t in the city.

Elevating Western PA Residence Inn Oakland actually has Gen2s. Walnut on Highland and Morrow City Apartments have 400AEs. Flats on Fifth has a 3300. You can look these places up and see the elevators in the images and using 360 view. Are there any other locations you know of?

The elevator is ok, nothing special. Maintenance tech should lube the car door rollers. They are squeaky on opening. I also noticed that the top right corner of the door is (or was) rubbing against the pass jamb somewhere (or behind the COP), I guess the door is bent or the clearances are screwed up. You can see scratch marks. The whole elevator rattles a bit as it moves...
