Still Lives On! Tasteful Old Otis Traction Elevators at Neiman Marcus, Galleria Mall in Houston, TX.

Video Recorded on December 20, 2023: Well it's been a VERY LONG WHILE since I have visited this wonderful mall in the greater Houston area! Only replacement that I see was the floor in both elevator cabs that were replaced, but everything else still remains the same. These elevators were tastefully modernized with Series 2 fixtures. Used to have Lexan as I remember correctly. Controllers were replaced as well, but aside from both the buttons and controller replacements, all the other machineries are still left original! I can still clearly hear the motor and relays from right behind the wall in the back cab! MUSIC TO MY EARS!!!!!! Oh and did I also forget the BEAUTIFUL mechanical bell chime for the elevator car on the far left!! Doesn't that sound like a what you'd hear in a movie or any kind? After waiting all this long, I FINALLY had the chance to revisit the Galleria!!!!! :D Unfortunately, both Westin hotels now require a keycard to access from the mall concourse. The big glass elevator right across from this department store did get modded, but they were incredibly too busy for me to film, but other than that, I did get most of the other elevators. Yellow and Orange Garage elevators were both modded too. Installed in 1969, modernized in 2007.

I filmed these a few years back and they still look the exact same. I wonder how the one at Macys is doing because when I filmed it it was really low on oil and had rev-leveling issues.

The Macy’s elevator still re-levels off camera, but it kind of vibrates and shakes a bit.

These things!!! Did you also filmed the Nordstrom elevators too? They are also awesome just like these. I remember when I filmed the service elevator there and I was LITERALLY scared that I would get busted, but it didn’t happen tho.

Yes, I filmed almost everything. As for that elevator in Dock V, it almost happened to me too, but it was literally at the end right when I was getting off is when 2 janitors got on. She said nothing but thank you to me as I gave them the elevator and walk away right afterwards.

The backwall doors were covering the rear side of it.
