Fredericks has 2x “silver doubles” at the Olympics - silvers in both the 100m and 200m in 1992 and 1996. Brilliant athlete 🇳🇦

I remember Frank Frederick's from his high school days here in South Africa. He was a skinny 18 yr old with a lot of speed. Usually as fast or faster than the senior sprinters in South Africa. Then he went to America, built a strong upper body , and the rest is history. Jim, Google his name, find a vid of him running here in SA as a high schooler. Roy b, Cape Town, South Africa.

Good start of frederiks and he can maintain it to finish line. Bailey did not pull the race at the last 30 m since he could not accelerate well .

What the hell was wrong with Surin in Lane 8? He was usually much closer then that to the top guys.

Surin had some bad years in 1996 and 1997. Big steps back after winning a silver in the WC 100 in 1995. In 1996 I think he was dealing with injuries that season and only made it to the Olympic semi-final. In 1997 he barely made the WC final. It wasn't until 1998 he was back to normal and then in 1999 he reached the height of his career time wise (9.84).
