Hi. Just found your channel. Loving your reviews. This was done when Tina was in Australia filming Mad Max. Jimmy heard she was there and wanted to record a song with her. Tina’s agent was the same agent as Joe Cocker the Jimmy knew. So he got in touch, she agreed. Jimmy has the most powerful voice in music as far as I know. Teaming up with the amazing Tina was pure magic. ❤️

WRONG, this version was actually produced in 1992 for the NSW Rugby League as a promotion for the season. In 1989 Tina's song "What you get is what you see" was used as the promotion for the NSWRL, in 1990 it was changed to her song "The Best" then 1992 was when this duet version came out and renamed to "(Simply) The Best". NSWRL's slogan was Simply The Best hence the subsequent renaming of the song. See this is how rumors get started. Initially a Bonnie Tyler tune. The Best was covered by Tina for her Foreign Affair album in 89. The re-recording with Jimmy Barnes came in 1992 many years after Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. This is in my opinion is the best version of this song with Diesel on guitar.

The original version was by Bonnie Tyler in 1988. It was then covered by Tina Turner & then made into a duet with Jimmy Barnes for Australian Rugby League as their theme song.

I’ve been a big fan of Tina Turner since the 1970’s. I love this duet with Jimmy Barnes An awesome video is Jimmy Barnes singing Stone Cold with Joe Bonamassa playing guitar. Joe is one of the greatest blues guitarists alive today (he toured with BB King when he was 12) I enjoyed your reaction 👍

1992 Tina and Jimmy did that song and in 1993 Tina performed it for the NRL grand final footy match between st George dragons and Brisbane Broncos at Sydney stadium Broncos won it 14-6 winning the winfeild cup she an absolutely amazing singer and she did great show that year I reckon just about everyone in Australia was just singing SIMPLY THE BEST along side her

Jimmy Barnes was a member of the Australian rock band Cold Chisel, where his character vocals came into it's own. Jimmy does a great cover of a Sam and Dave song(1966) When Something is Wrong With My Baby from Jimmy's Soul Deep concert, a duet with Australia's The Voice John Farnham; with an appearance of Johnny Diesel(Jimmy's brother-in-law) on guitar and vocals.

Theres actually a video on KZbin of the making of the commercial where tina is up on sydney harbour bridge no harness singing while they were eecording it took them about 4 hours to shoot just that one section of the clip where tina is singing in the Sydney Harbour bridge and it was fir NRL rugby league commercial for the new season where new teams were introduced before it was the super league great reaction and they are great artists jimmy and Tina rip legend

Tina had strong ties to Australia and had a Australian manager Roger Davies. He kicked her career back into top gear The NRL ( rugby league) had a big part for Tina, to promote the game through advertising. There are videos of this on KZbin. Tina will be sadly missed as a great performer and as a person.

Tina asked Australian Jimmy Barnes to sing with her. Diesel the guitarist is Jimmy’s brother-in-law . I heard Jimmy in an interview talking about it.
