Great cover of a DP classic, really very good. Only the very brave would attempt to cover these DP classics because you are setting yourself up to be compared to some of the best ever. This really reminds me of just how Jon Lord completely redefined the Hammond and its role in heavy rock. All those organ solos at such amazing speed and complexity. He could match any guitar and that for me made Deep Purple the best out of the three founders of heavy rock. For me the others in the same zone but very different genre as Lord are Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman. But even Lord started with Prog in the early DP days. RIP Jon Lord. Many thanks for putting this cover on your channel and your reaction.

Oh my! Totally unexpected to find this on the channel. It's one of my favourite covers/tribute ever, ever. Ever. The original is the original, and Purple is legendary, but this is, at the very least, on par with the original. This version was included in a Deep Purple tribute album named Re-Machined. There are covers by Metallica, Joe Satriani (with Chickenfoot), Iron Maiden and Glen Hughes. It's phenomenal. I actually discovered this a couple of years back, after discovering Black Country Communion, which was a project that joined Joe Bonamassa, Glen Hughes (ex-Purple), Jason Bonham (son of John Bonham) and Derek Sherinian (ex- Dream Theater). They released, If I recall, 3 albums. Old school cool Hard-Rock/Blues with a modern touch. Check them out, lads!

I've decided after doing a little digging into Cold Chisel week that I'm going to make that playlist include all of the "side stuff" from the members a la my Beatles playlist. They are all just too good at what they do to ignore the stuff they do outside of Chisel. Barnesy and Bonamassa are in great form here. As is the whole band really. To anyone who doesn't say there aren't amazing musicians putting out music in the 2000s, look harder. If Alex can stomach more Bonamassa, him and Beth Hart doing "I'd Rather go Blind" is beyond amazing. And live.

This was great, haven’t heard this version before! As the other comments have mentioned John Farnham performed the Aussie role of Jesus in JCS (and was fabulous!). JCS was actually how I first discovered Ian Gillan when I was still very young - I purchased a 2nd hand soundtrack of the English cast production (the 4 side vinyl version) and thought he had the most amazing voice. I absolutely loved that album and knew every note by heart, it had so much meaning as well as punching through with that amazing heavy groove, gentle moments and powerful realisations. It also gave me my lifelong love of that era’s sound. Much later on in my late teenage years I discovered Ian was in Deep Purple (I was always more into 60s/70s than my own contemporary 80s era) and then was amazed by so many epic vocals. Legend. Very excited for Prog Week and Bowie week! And 3rd Aussie week (hope marketing isn’t watching 🤐🤫) I’m finding it quite funny that these videos drop at the perfect time when I do my handicrafts - crocheting to heavy rock 😆 that’s how I roll these days 😂.

If you haven't reviewed it already, you have to watch Joe and Beth Hart doing 'I'd Rather Go Blind' live in Amsterdam. It's just brilliant.

@@TheThamesmen Ok guys, have you really check this out yet? Beth and Joe together --or each on their own--will absolutely blow your minds. Both are extremely prolific (Joe puts out a blues album that goes to #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart every 10 months...he has 25 #1's and counting; Beth Hart wrote 72 new songs during the pandemic). Here's just a small sample to get you started. (Yeah overwhelming, just start with the first song in each list, then go the second, etc.). Great reaction as always chaps. They do this type of music extremely well sometimes reaching the Purple-esque heights - agreed about Jon Lord, untouchable. Now George, bone to pick with you - you went to see Nightwish but I've not heard anything about it yet - did you enjoy it? 😉 😀

Here is the Making of (3 minutes) of the same session with more explanations and speech from Jimmy Barnes and Joe Bonamassa of the whole session - speech is breaking or leaving the music behind from times, but gives more insight to this session. OK. As much as we love him, enough of Jimmy Barnes. It's time for some new exploration in Aussie Week 3. My suggestions are: 1.The Teskey Brothers, 'Hold Me', LIVE at the Forum in Melbourne. 2. Vanessa Amorosi, 'Take a Look,' LIVE. 3. Renee Geyer,' It's a Man's World', LIVE.' 4.Hunters And Collectors, 'River Runs Dry' LIVE. 5.Karise Eden, 'Stay With Me Baby', LIVE.

@@TheThamesmen I have just found a newly released video on YT about John Farnham. It's named, 'John Farnham Can Sing Anything', Parts 1-4, by Adam Stolfo, an American, I think. It shows the versatility of JF's singing in approximately 18 styles.

Fabulous cover! A great performance without question . . . but I agree with Alex that the Hammond organ just wasn't quite there in the first few minutes. To be fair though, it is tough to compete with Jon Lord's performance on the studio recording!

Hi again from Uk ( it’s been a little while ) indulge me whilst I waffle - lot to unpack here - made in Japan first album I bought so bar rather high - solid cover , spirit of Jon lord - who can compete ? 💥, Joe B did a great job ( can you tell tone difference on strat with maple neck rather than rosewood neck that Ritchie always used ? ) , saw Joe B and Beth Hart at intimate gig in inner courtyard Of Hampton Court Palace - one of those nights you lock away for ever , especially Beth 🧨
