I believe this is from her band's performance at The Summit in Houston, Texas on Nov. 17,1977. Her band included Waddy Wachtel on lead guitar and backing vocals, the late Kenny Edwards on bass and backing vocals, the late Don Grolnick on keyboards, Dan Dugmore on rhythm guitar and pedal steel and Rick Marotta on drums. My wife and I saw this film in the spring of 1978 and then saw Linda in concert in August at the U. of Toledo, where the band was the same as here except for Russ Kunkel on drums.

Linda in her prime...doesn't get any better than that. Had it really bad for her back then during my college years. Such power in her voice...no one like her ever since. Glad I had the opportunity to see her live shows during that time, just a shame what Parkinson's has done. Today's so-called "singers" can't hold a candle to Linda.

I totally agree I don't think he has ever gotten the recognition that he deserved. He is sort of like drummer kenny aronoff in that regard. So, Waddy Wachtel is playing lead guitar and slide (guy with the amazing hair) and acoustic on the vocal tune. He was like Linda. She was #1 voice in LA in the late 1960s and all through 1970s. He was that guy on the guitar. Joe Walsh amped up the Eagles. But nobody was better than Waddy. He played with Linda, Warren Zevon, Jackson Browne. Later with Stevie Nicks. Just the most amazing talent. Thank you Waddy!!!!!

This is definitely one of Linda's best live versions of Tumblin Dice. She's expressive, even almost a rough quality, but still so, so hot and feminine. Perfect for the song. +markflem - I really think we can get in trouble rating singers. Let's just say Great is Great. I think Linda is a great vocalist with the sense to cover Great Songs. In addition to the singers other commenters have mentioned, I would like to add Eva Cassidy, June Christy, Rumer, Julie London, Judy Garland, Janis Joplin, Mama Cass, Phoebe Snow, Minnie Ripperton, Roberta Flack, Whitney, Mariah - Etc. I sell music where I work. And I am fortunate to have musicians stop in our store. When, early on, I said someone was the best, the musicians quickly put me in my place (and rightfully so). The musicians generally have great respect for anyone who can produce great music. I hope this makes sense. Best wishes, Ted

@theolamp53128 жыл бұрын
+jahnsahn76 - I agree. Although I'm not a big fan of country music, I love Patsy Cline. She annunciated her lyrics much like Frank Sinatra. There was never any doubt about what she was saying or singing. Having great flavors is a great thing. If not, we would have everyone listening to the same thing, How boring would that be. I would also like to suggest you check out Eva Cassidy. You won't be disappointed. Best wishes, Ted
