Adam totally missed that comedic opportunity. Ernie is the GOAT because he would naturally ride that wave of comedy and never say something like "let's move on" and just rush to the segment's next planned element. Ernie won't mind blowing up the entire show and throw all the basketball out the window if a worthwhile entertaining moment presents itself. For all his flaws, Shaq caught that perfectly and repeatedly tried to shift the segment to that.
