Good start for an epic comedian. It's easy to see how much he's improve since then.

Nilas Thomsen Yeah, he'd written a few of his best jokes by then. Actually in another video he says how he looks back on this performance (I think it was this one) and says he was really nervous.
@Alex_17294 жыл бұрын
Yeah he did. Except that he kept using these jokes for years to come. Not that everyone else doesn't do that, just saying. But, the jokes were hilarious still, and to have so many great and original jokes at such an early stage is saying something

People who are saying he has improved so much since then, I think it depends on your taste. This is a masterpiece and I believe the funniest set he's ever done (that I've seen). His style of delivery has changed but I prefer this style personally.

I can't believe I found this - I fell in love with Jimmy Carr the second he came out with his fattist joke - absolutely brilliant comedian and been at the top ever since.

I know what you're saying but there are so many comedians now that have an empty pally conversational style. I liked the fact that he was a bit sneery and 'above it all'. Hard to explain but he is a great comic today too!

I like that Jimmy has experimented in recent times and sort of... opened up somewhat, he's loosened up hugely and interacts a lot now... But I prefer this standoffish, in-character approach. I think he should stay in persona completely, make it a complete act and be as consistently biting and witty as possible, I'm not normally the biggest fan of one-liner comedians but he's brilliant with it.

Actually thecassman got it completely wrong. What he actually said was the complete opposite - "A lot of people come to an important benefit gig like this and they bother to learn their material". He then looks at his notes to indicate that he HASN'T bothered to learn his material - therein lies the joke.

Indeed, it is relative. I meant it a) in that he sounds posher than he does in his more recent stuff, but that may partially be because his delivery is a little more... stilted? deadpan? that he is now, and b) in a nice way, because I luff Jimmy Carr lots and lots. Apparently my comment got misinterpreted as a jibe at him, though ;_;
