IF you're a reader you'd be able to easily discern the ongoing reassessment of Carter's term, and with that open mind you may learn something. But that's a big if. I think the 'perhaps not Mount Rushmore, but definitely in the foothills' says it best. One of the greatest, most consequential people who have served as President. Take note of Stuart Eizenstat's eulogy of Carter.

Rest in Power, President Carter. I'll bet Rosalynn and Jimmy were glad to spend some time together again! Soon they will be hanging out under their willow tree dreaming up some good trouble. The USA has two additional angels, heavens knows we need the help! Starting with housing! Thank you President Carter. 🗽

Haha he was only the third oldest living president at the time - after George H. W. Bush who was also 80 and 91 year old Gerald Ford who was the one that was starting to shut down by that point. He outlived both of them. Also after she turned 80, Rosalynn said that she was considering slowing down her schedule because she was getting old, yet 4 years later she still looked incredible for an 84 year old. I really don’t think they started to actually show their age until Jimmy was 96 and Rosalynn was 93.
@evanshiong3557Күн бұрын
@@orbisonI remember when he was 89 that he was getting close to “that” age of the then-Overton window of presidential longevity (93), and I started to worry about him - but at that age I see him still so healthy. But he even said that he had no idea he would still be there and that his whole world was Rosalynn. Glad they’re together once again 🙏🙏

We were lucky to have him as long as we did. All the good he brought AFTER leaving office. No one would bat an eyelash if he had just sat back and did the speaking engagements tour for the rest of his days. He was a great man…and most importantly…a good man.

Jimmy Carter's economic were 2 fold. Once upon a time, we paid for wars, the bills usually coming due rufley 10 years after the initiation of a conflict. Remember Vietnam? The second was the energy crisis created by our dependence on foreign oil and it's escalating costs. You table the problems as best you can. He will be known as the country's last president leaving office with our national debt under a trillion dollars. By the time Reagan left office, we were pretty close to 4 trillion debt.

@PlayNiceFolksКүн бұрын
And now Iraq is doing better than most of its neighbors, by far more of functional Democracy compared to countries like Iran or Saudi Arabia, and economically better than other former dictatorships like Libya. But it's a dogma of both the Left and now even the Right, that the Iraq War was nothing but a worthless failure. It could have been conducted immensely better than it was, of course. Most importantly, all the violence we saw would have likely been even worse once Saddam died and his lovely sons vied for power. To think that the regime would have remained as is perpetually assumes that the regime was innately stable even without Saddam's iron fisted rule. And we did find old caches of chemical WMDs all over Iraq, which, while not active or maintained, directly shows that Saddam had no intention of giving up his WMDs, or else those would have been handed over when he supposedly ended his WMD programs. But hey, can't argue with dogma.
@SilverMenace10017 сағат бұрын
Of course, it was an unnecessary and wasteful blunder. The caches found were corroded junk from the Iraq-Iran war. Second, Bush was told repeatedly that Iraq had no collaborative ties to Bin Laden's Al-Qaeda. To each their own I suppose.

Jimmy Carter parlayed his Habit for Humanity work and Sunday school teaching into covering for not only his failed presidency but his failed post-presidency impact on the world. If not for Carter, Hugo Chavez would have never been validated as President of Venezuela and who knows what a positive difference that would have made for not only the citizens of that decimated country, but of the hemisphere and the world. His approach to the Mideast post-presidency was also a failure, giving his imprimatur on the idea that Israel was/is an apartheid state, in the process not-so-tacitly giving the terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah legitimacy.
