I can't believe I never saw this until now. Jimmy Cliff really is a musical legend. His voice, his many great songs and his honesty are like musical scripture for me. Plus, the international aspect of his orientation liberate me from an increasingly burdensome Western perspective. Thank you Jimmy Cliff for being so brave and genuine.

Jimmy Cliff practically saw me through the tough years away from home, living in the USA as a student immigrant, especially "Sitting in Limbo"; "Struggling Man", "Hard Road to Travel"

When I feel depressed, Jimmy can make me feel better than any drug. And you've got to love the way he plays a righthand guitar upside down without reversing the strings. Not a lefthander myself, but just so cool.

That movie came out the year I was born and I discovered it in high school and was immediately hooked!! That soundtrack has been in my collection of must haves and is just as relevant now as it was back then. Not to mention he sounds simply amazing! A big thanks to Bob who seems to make a lot of the music magic happen around there. Ive said it before, you have the BEST job ever!! Even in this crazy quarantine I have been turned on to so much mind blowing talent. Thanks for appreciating these musicians and realizing how important music is for ones soul:)

Ahhh ... fell in love with so many tracks from The Harder They Come when I saw the movie for the first time: the title track; Many Rivers to Cross; Vietnam; Wonderful World, Beautiful People, and so on. Jimmy definitely still had “it” in 2010! A beautiful, soulful, rich, and unaffected sound that has stood the test of time, and only ripened into something richer and more authentic over time. Sent the link to this Tiny Desk concert to two friends from high school days and the memories of seeing THTC for the first time started spinning. Don’t know what year it was, but probably ‘77, ‘78, or ‘79. What I remember are those songs, and how I felt when the credits rolled. ‘Many Rivers to Cross’ has put itself onto the turntable of my mind again and again over the years. Still love it. Bob Boilen, thank you for all the phenomenal musicians and the mini-concerts you feature here; this has been my favorite KZbin channel for years, and I’ve been introduced to countless great artists.
