Honestely, I think this performance shows off a lot of talent. First, that Idina Menzel actually sings, that the Roots is completely capable of writing, re-writing and adapting given musical scores, and the sheer creativity of Jimmy Fallon and his crew. I might use this in my class to highlight the work and training that goes into good comedy. Thank you !

She nailed every single note like the queen she is, at the Oscars the music was rushed, they cut off half of the song and she was nervous, that's why she didn't hit the last note as good as she COULD have as we clearly just saw. And this is why I say that Idina can't do things under high pressure. When it's something relaxed and fun with Jimmy Fallon, she sounds FLAWLESS. Like, did you hear how much power those high notes had? She did an amazing job here. When it's the Oscars or the Tony Awards, she sounds like crap. She's a Broadway legend, and rightfully so, but seriously, just pre-tape. It'll spare us all some agony later, and show Idina at her best - when she's not stressed and feeling the music.

She may have rehearsed, and she's incredibly accomplished at live theatre, but even someone THAT well trained is going to struggle under rotten circumstances. She has the experience, the training and the talent.... Sorry she's not autotuned enough for you!
