That is what I love about living in Germany. In Germany, that kid would be singing not only about being a biochemist or a engineer but also singing about being a baker or a carpenter or a plumber. Those are also good jobs. Respectable jobs. My son is doing an apprentiship to be a industrial maschinist. Is that ok? Yes it is. He gets 900 Euros a month and health care and gets paid to go to school;)

I saw a documentary on Germany’s education system several years ago. My husband and I were IMPRESSED!! We were parents of university children by then and thought why don’t the rest of the G7 countries adopt the Germany system?? I don’t like our system. It does not prepare our children very well to explore and develop their path for entry into post secondary learning. We each have talents to be discovered and that journey of self discovery should start as early as grade 6 or 7, and to be continued and encouraged by parents and the academic community. Then when the kids are around 12 or 13 the working community should collectively run summer camps to offer opportunities for young ones to try out things. The biggest reason none of this happens is the potential for accidents and lawsuits .....that is what I have been told by managers of establishments. Don’t we have retirees who could volunteer to come back and teach for 2-3 weeks per year so that our young ones become a contributing member of society ? There are plenty of retirees , they just need organizations to provide the infrastructure for them to do this with an impactful experience. When my children were 12, they had ( there was no choice) to volunteer to care of young kids at their old after school program . No way was I allowing my children to be at home watching tv, playing video games all day during 8 weeks of summer vacation while I was at work. I asked my son to teach the young ones about soccer and run a mini soccer camp since my son loves soccer. My son had fun doing that. When they got older they found part time work doing service work. I wanted them to learn to serve . It would teach them about humbleness and to have empathy. At the end of August , my children were treated to a family vacation before school started. This was their reward from us. Today, my children are industrious, self motivated young people and we don’t worry about them as much because they had a great launch pad into adulthood. The Germany education system is the best I have seen so far. In the end every parent wants their child to be gainfully employed , creating joyful experiences while doing so. It is wishful thinking that every moment of work is going to be stress free . A little stress brings on stretch goals and you develop. We are to reach our potential...and that can never be done without stretch goals. The goal should be work long and make a valuable contribution , not I can’t wait to retire at 55 ... that is so young. If one dies at age 95 , retirement is longer than your work life ?.?.? What’s the purpose of life ? That’s the question to be asked and life long journey is to seek it and get that done before the lights go out.

Jimmy is great, found him during this crazy. On a side note, what is up with the lady sitting so odd? If you can't deal with the dress, don't wear one. OK? 🍀
