I remember meeting Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin and Precious a couple times at the SHOWBOAT in Las Vegas back around 1985 when I was stationed at Nellis AFB. They were always Very Nice to their fans down in the Casino area going to the Showboat Sports Pavilion. Jimmy was a GREAT Wrestler and Patty always complemented his ring style. Those were Great times!

He was an incredible wrestler. He was great on the mic and in the ring. A smart man with a plan to do things outside of wrestling. As a pilot he couldn't be on alcohol and drugs. Pilots get tested almost daily.

Great interview. Back in 88 as my dad was trying to find parking outside the Cincinnati gardens before a show, I looked out the back window of our truck and see Jimmy and Ronnie Garvin in the car behind us. Jimmy was cool enough to wave before I could react.

I remember Gorgeous Jim Garvin as a kid. He used to wrestle at the Sportatorium near Downtown Dallas. Iceman King Parsons, Ted DiBiase, King Kong Bundy, Kimala, Ric Flair , The Iron Sheik, and Bruiser Brody were also there. That place used to go crazy when the Freebirds and Von Erichs would go at it.

Sounds awesome I'm 22 years old and started discovering territory wrestling when I was 17. And I started watching it on the Network. And of course on You Tube. But Wccw is one of my favorite territory to watch it would have been awesome to see that live.

When the KaFabe was lost so was the mystery with all the wrestlers. I grew up in Illinois and every Saturday at 5pm the AWA came on. Absolutely loved it then the early 80’s I came across WCW @ the Sport auditorium on ESPN. Then I moved to Los Angles and came across TBS where I saw the Road Warriors early in their career. That’s where I saw the Garvins, what a great time to be a fan. Nice video

Jimmy Garvin is one of the coolest guys in wrestling, both professionally and personally. Professionally, he was able to effectively play a heel or a face. Personally, not only has he been married to the same woman for 50 years (Precious), he and Precious do A LOT to help the homeless.

Jimmy Garvin was a great worker, with great personality, with a hot valet too go along with. If he had been around in the late 90s and early 2000s ole Jimmy could have been world champ. Back in his prime, most promoters would not give a guy his size a chance at the world title.

One of Verne Gagne’s major screwups ( and there were a lot) was not putting the AWA title on Garvin. Like he said, him and Rick had great chemistry and matches. Verne had Rick drop the title to Stan Hansen, due to money from Giant Baba, knowing that Hansen wouldn’t want to drop the belt when it came time.
