"Jimmy Johnson" played by Ernie Carpenter (1907-1997) on fiddle at his home in Braxton County, W.Va. in 1984. At the end he talks a little about how he admired the bowing of his mentor, Jack McElwain. We're grateful to Gerry Milnes, who introduced us to Ernie initially and gave us permission to use this photo he took. That's Brad providing backup on banjo, and Linda made the recording.
