I had to leave the 14th comment just to purge the unlucky number. I love Tommy's banjo playing, and all the back-beat bits fill up the spaces perfectly with his own rolling-bow fiddle style. As much as I've read about Ben Jarrell as the main source for Tommy's fiddle tunes, I've never seen a mention of whether Ben played banjo. Do you know?

I don't know specifically, but I'd bet he did. Most of those musicians could play both even if they specialized in one or the other.

Old man Sam Pim in Ralston, Oklahoma, also played fiddle with a couple of missing fingers on his left hand. I sure admire people who overcome obstacles like that!

It's from the Collins family of Shawnee, Oklahoma. They all played it, although I got this from a recording of Max Collins in particular.

Title I heard it by so many years and years ago was "When it' chitlins slinging time in Cheatum County." Liked it well enough that I haven't forgot the title in sixty or seventy years.
