I'm a French teacher. I teach English and still make my students listen to him. When I started they knew him, now many haven't even heard "Born in the USA". But I won't stop making them study this one. And when they can't remember his name, I tell them: just call him"The Boss". This is my crusade. And to answer some comments, Springsteen isn't 70, he is timeless !

9 years ago you shook my hand before the premiere of the documentary "The Promise" here in Rome. I was there with an old friend of mine (my own Bobby Jean). Every day I can still feel your handshake and it gives me such great joy and energy, especially when I play guitar. I love you Bruce. Your words have changed my life. I found the film to be a thing of beauty. An American icon admitting his flaws, paying homage to the Southwest and showing his deep love for his wife. So glad I viewed it at a big screen theater with a good sound system. Such an intimate concert setting at his NJ barn, contrasted with expansive shots of the West. Bruce is not preaching at all; maybe teaching - those who care to listen - something based on his experiences of heartbreak and discovery. I left Western Stars singing to myself and feeling more inspired and hopeful. How many 70 year olds do you know who can continue to surprise us with such creativity? Long life, Bruce Springsteen. Thank you for sharing the ride.

I was blessed to be at Bruce's Western Stars presentation in London last year. Surrounded by "suits" I wanted to stand, shout and do the Bruuuuuce call. Suits sitting next said they noticed I knew all the words of every Western Stars songs. I replied only an idiot wouldn't. My heart nearly burst seeing him come on stage for Q & A. Wanted to jump from balcony and hug him to say thanks for all of his soul he gives us. Bruce (Boss) thank you for giving us "a little human Touch". Right back at you, always. You being here for me/us gives hope in this weird pandemic world. Xx

I was raised in Monmouth County, NJ in the 60's and 70's. In the late 60's we would sneak into the Wonder Bar and Stone Pony in Asbury Park without being carded and watch Bruce play. He would come off of the stage and sit with us between sets and take a swig of our beer while we talked. We would also go to the Upstage, also in Asbury Park, but they didn't serve liquor so there was no problem getting in. I remember walking out onto the dark streets of the town after the show and not be able to hear for a half an hour, the music was so loud. Today I have constant ringing in my ears due to that time in my life. It is a reminder of Bruce's start in Asbury Park. He is till the BOSS!

Both are Dutch and Italian also (Springsteen with some Irish also). De Niro is half Italian, half Dutch. Springsteen is a Dutch-Spanish name but his mother is Italian (last name Zerilli) and his father was Dutch-Irish. There were direct relatives of Bruce Springsteen (1949-) in New York City and State in the mid-1600s when it was known as New Amsterdam. I guess it's not quite accurate then when he says in interviews that his relatives got off the boat from Europe just before World War I or so - only the Italian side did that - the other side goes back almost 400 years now, to Shakespearean times almost.

Yeah so humble and I can believe very shy and discreet when he's not on stage. I found out about it too late, but I would've loved to have attended the JC City Hall ceremony in January (I live one town over) when his son Sam got his firefighter's badge; proud parents Patti and Bruce were there. In my mind's eye, I'm walking up to them all, congratulating Sam, then telling Bruce that I've been a fan of his for 40 years and gushing about what his music has meant to me. 😆 In reality, I'm a lil shy myself amongst strangers, and I more likely would've respected that the moment was about Sam, and not a Bruce fan meet & greet. Still, it would've been cool to be a few feet from one of my musical idols and snapped a few pics/shot some video. I think one "Bruuuce" shout out and a wave back from him would've been more than good enough for me.
