I have listened to Christy Moore’s version several times, accompanied by Declan Sinnott. It is absolutely magical. He is accompanied by one of the finest guitarists in the world. He says Jimmy McCarthy taught him the song. And, forced to choose, I would listen to Dan’s version every day and twice on Sunday. Fortunately I don’t have to choose.

I agree 100% with you Michael I listen to my dad talk about Jack Doyle when I was a kid he was a legend in Ireland in the 1930s when my dad was a kid and when every young person needed a Jack Doyle to look up to us Irish no matter what stick together Paddy Byrne
