Another outstanding job of getting a casual one on one conversation with a true NASCAR legend. I love the non- scripted walk around format. The fact that he wants to use his old hauler to race again shows the no- nonsense kind of guy Jimmy is. I just turned 55, this Era of racing is what I remember as a kid. Mr. Means is one of the greatest I have ever heard stories of back when I got into racing in the early 90s. Some of his little tricks like the intake pieces that I think he called sliders. The adjustments that would happen on track at the super speedway such as the hydraulic rear spoiler lol. This video brings back some awesome memories. At 36 years old and having some sponsor help for my sprint car racing I would love to help him get the truck together and take a car to race Darlington in 2023

The G body Era of Nascar has to be my favorite. Dale's wrangler Monte Carlo is still my favorite car to ever grace a nascar track. Handsome Harry Gant and his #33 skoal car is a close second lol

Wonder if old Smut has any of his orange chevells that he use to race at BIR when he lived in Huntsville? He raced against all the legends, the Allison’s, Farmer, Burger Jones, Lawley, and Bo and Donnie Anthony, Dave Mader and many others. He was always a crowd favorite.

My hubby won all but 2 races for 2yrs. By not cheating, but maximizing every part on the car ! Did not have a lot of money but used his brains to study the parts and make them work as intended for drag racing !

You wouldn’t need a race car motor to get it home. 366 is a solid puller. 4 rings pulling heat off pistons. Powered many school buses when I was a kid. He was right, I slept on a few package trays. I remember the first time I crawled up to get on the one in my stepdads convertible and found the trunk. 😂

366 Big Block . 400 tall deck, probably for the 4 ring truck piston . The extra ring in the truck piston pulls more heat out of the piston and transfers the heat into the cylinder walls .
