what a fantastic this show was ,,, auf wiedersehen pet royalty on stage for almost 4 hrs . it was recorded, and I hope it comes out on a dvd altho nothing has been confirmed.

I just love this series, Dennis always reminded me of my Dad, he was also a Geordie but he was a Merchant seaman in ww2, everytime I watch these guys I think of my dear dad, still miss him, now I'm going to binge watch Auf Wiedersehen Pet lol, thanks for the memories guys!!

Yeah it was a very emotional experience. Not quite in the same style as he sung in series 2 , but brilliant all the same. He sang it more like the merl haggard original.

@iangreen2171 ...he sung this more in the style of Merle Haggard , and personally I prefer Ozs version from series 2. I thought that the FULL uncut version if it exists , (and im sure it does 😉🤭🤫) might at least make it onto the Auf Wiedersehen Pet theme tune album. 🤷‍♂️.

Yes it was a great show ... but its a 1 off really . Can't see there being another 1. Its being able to get all those cast and crew together for 1. So many other commitments. This was the big 1.

He may be a good singer, great actor in awp , iv never watched his other stuff,, but its disappointing how he treats the fans. Iv always had an open mind and hear of how he is difficult to work with , demanding and controlling. But being at the show I found out there for myself he did not want any fans , no matter how big , to certainly not go back stage , he would not do photos or signing ls for fans waiting, and he left strict instructions at the aftershow party that only cast crew and families allowed, and no photos on mobiles were allowed... best of it was, he never even went. I managed to shoe horn myself into the aftershow and the word was that Jimmy controls everything. I was told to leave by 1 of the organisers, but other cast members wanted me to stay cos they knew I was a massive fan and deserved to be there , so their word out ranked the organisers.... but if Jimmy had been there , I'd av been hoyed out for sure. It's such a shame he's not like oz in real life ... disappointing,, I wouldn't go out my way to see him again.

I was a young Auf Wiedersehen Pet brickie '79 OZ the series brings a tear to my eye. Unlike many it was a carbon copy 'Everything'!!! Characters I'm from the same part of the world as Barry 😁 I'd love to meet the writers cos their homework was 💯

This was a great show , and I managed to shoe horn my way into the aftershow, and I was lucky enough to meet the creator of awp Franc Roddam , and writers Stan Hey and Dick Clement. It was certainly a moment being in their company... geniuses, the lot of em 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Honestly, it was an absolutely brilliant show 👏🏻... loved every minute. And I was lucky enough to gain access to the aftershow party back at the hotel where they were all staying . Sadly Jimmy being Jimmy left strict instructions for no mobile cameras , so no photos. But he wasn't even there. Everyone else who was in the show was there . I managed to get a few sneaky pics with a lot of the cast but was looking over my shoulder incase they chucked us out lol.

It was a bit awkward at first in the after party cos I was told by the organisers I wasn't welcome and I had to leave ,,, but a bit of a chat with 1 of the cast members and I was allowed to stay..... but not allowed to take photos. But when Tim Healy saw me there he comes over and said awww Daniel you made it in then fantastic,, and he said let's have a photo... I said " Tim I can't, it's a good job iv got pics we you already because I'm not allowed to take any in here.".... he said "WHAT?!?.. who said that , so I told him and he said bollocks to that get your camera out "🤣🤣.... hes a great bloke. So I didn't get pics with everyone at the aftershow which I'm a bit sad about , but I spoke with everyone, and I did get a few pics.... even tho I was told not to ,,, but The Gaffers word is final as far as I'm concerned. I don't go looking for trouble ,,,, but trouble and me seem to go hand in hand. 🤣🤣🤣

No this is the first time he appeared,,, at this 40th anniversary. He's a great bloke,, a real gentleman, and loved chatting awp and looking at photos from back in the day. I feel very lucky to av had time to chat with him ... thank goodness he's completely opposite to his heavy duty villain character

Well,,, to be honest , the entire show was scripted .. when they were doing Q&As , everything came up on that screen , and who to talk with next ... its just how it is I guess. But it was a brilliant show all the same

I bet it was, would loved to of been there, I’ve been to Thornley Manor & The Barley Mow great day out the lady who owned the Manor showed us round made us tea and showed us photo albums of when they were filming there getting back to prompting screens I sing for a living and never use karaoke screens I learn all the songs I sing does my head watching performers reading from a screen how can you engage with your audience if your reading from a screen 🤷🏻‍♂️

@DB-ji5bq yeah it certainly was.. this was the gig we've all waited for. I was lucky to shoe horn myself into the aftershow party but Jimmy didn't go and neither did Julia tobin, but everyone else who was at the show were there. Yes the lady at "Thornely manor " was lovely.. Mrs Matthews.. but sadly she died and the house was sold a few years ago. Another stroke of luck I had , I managed to aquire the front door from Thornely manor. I did a little video on KZbin its on my channel explaining how I got it and where it is today. I think the karaoke screen was just a matter of course , and im sure when Jimmy was singing he'll av engaged with the crowd, he mustve known the words. From the angle I sat , I couldn't tell how much he and everyone else used the screens

@edwardkent ....and also not a nice person in real life.... has no time for the fans ,, hes not interested,,, infact there's no excuse for the way he treats with people who basically have put him where he is. If it wasn't for fans 🤷‍♂️. Do I sound bitter,,?.. well, over the years you hear rumours that he's difficult to get on with etc etc... but until you see it for yourself, you realise he's just a total knob. Iv met a lot of awp cast and crew , and all of them have been great, but he makes sure nobody can get near him and those who do get close he's very rude to. Following this show in Newcastle, I managed to get into the after show party ,,, but Jimmy Nail had left instructions that nobody except cast and crew were allowed,, so it looked like I hit a brick wall... but with continued thanks to 2 of the cast members who basically told Jimmy to bollock , they got me in . And the best of it was, Jimmy wasn't even there . He's such an arse.
