I saw zep once. Firm once. Trippin both. What I swear I saw was the most melodic, powerful, passionate expression of a man's emotion, from soul, mind, heart transferred to us thru his fingers. I believe we are in total agreement SS...are we not?

Not as good and cohesive a song as ten years gone, seems like a collection of miscellaneous bits he has strung together.with something similar to white summer thrown in.he originally wrote most of this music at hedley grange in 74 ,back then he called it swan song.paul added lyrics and it became this ,still its fascinating to watch anything page does .this band and paul saved Jimmy from a dark time in his life

The fact is people, that Page got back out and did what he does best after Zep disbanded. Think about it.. If he quit giving us music, either good or bad, what what we do? We'd all cry and beg on our hands and knees for him to come back. My best comment I'll ever put on KZbin is this: It's music. Shut it and enjoy it.

agreed, Page went to art school during the 60's. I think he viewed the guitar as a means to an end as oppsed to desiring to be a "guitar master". It was more creating something of artistic value than wanking off on the guitar hence he's not going to impress the guitar snobs.

Dec. 1983. Backing group is Simon Phillips drums, Fernando Saunders, Andy Fairwheather-Low. Basic song structure based off of White Summer improvs. Tuning is DADGAD-same as Kashmir. Page is off Heroin by this time, but still showing the ravages of 7 years of use. ARMS concerts in US all used video screen projection, which is where this source comes from.

Saw the Firm live and it was a great performance by all. Paul Rodgers is to this day the best live singer I have ever heard. By the way I have seen well over 200 different bands from the 70's til the last concert I want to. The Foo Fighters in 2007 Right up there with Paul was Stevie Marriot in 74 with Humble Pie..

My favorite Firm song. I saw them live in STL in '85 or '86 and I was in row 1 on my brothers shoulders in my custom silk screened white denim jacket with all of Zeppelins album covers printed on it from art class. Jimmy was on point but I couldn't help but remember how his cigarette was totally sopping wet dripping with slimy spit just like his chin in this video. To be that close in concert to my guitar hero at the time was immeasurable. I got married in '88 and lost that fucking jacket, sad.

This is a great performance from the U.S. leg of the ARMS Tour. It's interesting to see the bridge just before the end is twice the length of The Firm version. That was always my favorite part of the song, so it's nice to see that section is twice as long here. Nice job guys!

As I have read, Page wouldnt touch a guitar for a long time. Clapton got him to play the ARMS concert. Then he started writing this...Its melodic, yet speaks of the darkness he surely felt. Dig the finger pickin'! Rogers (the greatest singer ever!) started working with him and had to put lyrics to it. "Take me from this wilderness" listen carefully its about Jimmy's total devastion and guilt about Bonzo. I love this song!

Thanks, I couldn't remember what it was. I know it's on the Led Zep DVD, but I didn't feel like fast forwarding through that thing trying to find the song. Anyway, my point was In My Time Of Dying and Kashmir were, to my knowledge, the only songs he stood when playing the Danelectro. The clips I've seen of Midnight Moonlight, he does jump out of his seat during the heavy section when the drums come in, but otherwise, he always sat with that guitar.

By the way, from the looks of Jimmy - which many people have commented on - this is from the ARMS tour, when he still had a certain issue going. In the Firm era, he's noticeably heavier and more robust and healthy. That's my opinion as a long-time fanatic, but apologies to the poster if I'm wrong.

I always thought this was an exceptional group, bought the albums, saw the tours. But, hey, I'd go see Page play with local grade school band. All his post Zep efforts have been short lived. I would have thought after 12 years of Plant, anyone would be easy to get along with.

@JustinPierce1226 I got you. Zeppelin (BTW my favorite band) is so hard to duplicate. It was and is a combination of four extremely talented and multi dimensional people. It is like the planets aligned just at the right time, and we were all lucky enough to be there to see them preform over the decade they were around. Zeppelin = great fucking music!

Jimmy almost always sat down when he was playing the Danelectro. I know he stood for Kashmir and whichever song it was that he used a Danelectro for slide (Nobody's Fault But Mine? Can't remember right now). But when he do these sort of quiet things like White Summer, Black Mountain Side and Midnight Moonlight, he always sat down. There's a clip of him playing it with The Firm elsewhere on KZbin where you can see he also sits on that one.

Greatly underrated appreciated album for sure.....Pagey was still awesome but very obviously strung out during this time period. He was extra gaunt even for him, his eyes were hollow and unfocused, even his facial expressions seemed odd and forced. Glad he got thru it all, by Outrider(ANOTHER vastly underrated album) he seemed a lot better. Wish he'd do some more work!
