I was asking myself what it means to me that I am Canadian. The answer came in a song.I realised all I ever need to feel at home is simple music.. I do not need a big band or a full stadium of cheering crowds. I do not need a mansion on a hill or accolades of accomplishments. All I ever need is just a few friends and a sense of purpose. If I can find the ability to forgive myself when I fail, and the knowledge to know life is not one moment but a journey of self discovery through many trials and tribulations. Play me a song like this and I feel I am where I belong no matter where I am. Sit me in a pub or a coffee shop listening to the stories of life with a true canadian acoustic poet and I am in heaven. That is what it means to me to be canadian. What does it mean to you?
