If every musician were as humble as Jimmy, we'd all be better off. Pleasant man.
@alejandrovillalba90025 жыл бұрын
I won't disagree with your point of view, although, sometimes people forget being a Bluseman is not the same as being a musician. Not all Bluesmen were musicians and viceverza. Jimmy has a little of both and his Bluesman side is what I think make him humble.

It doesn't get better than this. What a killer band he had with him that day. Sadly Jimmy died only three years after this from colon cancer.

always loved his mellow voice and the bands rhythm which always sounded like a swingy R&B cross but with the blues at it's heart.

THANK YOU for posting this! Great to hear the man who wrote the song doing it - I've been doing it ala Johnny Winter for a long time - also like the old Canned Heat version too. You know a song is great when other people wanna do it.

I was luck enough to sing with Jimmy. Mick Jagger offered, "The first time I heard Jimmy was when I was buying my first blues records and listening to Muddy Waters ... and eventually I found out that Jimmy was the guitarist on these records that I loved." Few realize he gave up music for a while... lost his store in the Chicago riots, drove taxi. When the Stones called him for his royalty check, he bet me they wouldn't ask him up to play, I said they would. That was 1992. The next night he called me from London he had Mick in the background, he'd just finished playing with the Stones... he was overwhelmed. Like Jimmy, I am overwhelmed that I was lucky enough to sing with him, 3 years later after this interview - at the height of his fame, he died of colon cancer. His son Jimmy D. Lane Ja keeps the legend alive. In London, who had a Blues revival, Jimmy got to play with both the Stones and Clapton, sadly most Americans have no idea who Jimmy was... but I do. That his son Jimmy D. Lane on guitar... he made the post below... 2x the guitarist he was then...

Awesome stuff, Jimmy is a legend for good reason. Just love the guitar solo there and love the harmonica solo, the guy playing harmonica looks very familiar and it is way obvious that he studied the original Little Walter harp solo from the original "Walking By Myself" which is still a tour de force.
