I was pregnant with my daughter when this song was released, 57 years have passed since then and this is still one of those songs that make you sit up and think about where you are in life.

@@pmjhnsJimmy was very productive mostly in the UK he had other great opportunities he even sung along side with the council collective to their song Soul deep to raise money for charity for the UK Minors, matter of fact Jimmy had his own radio show in the UK not many people know that, during the 70's Jimmy was Voted World's Top Singer in the British Polls of the UK that's something David will never be, when Jimmy came back to America from the UK he moved to Las Vegas to be closer to his family he continued to perform over their and wrote songs while playing piano 🎹 and guitar 🎸 during his 77th birthday he decided to record one last Album before his retirement he recorded his final Album called the Soul Sound of Jimmy Ruffin including his final song called One in a Million, when Jimmy was sent to the hospital 🏥 he died on November 17th 2014 at age 78 it said he Gravely ill his Daughter Phililcia Ruffin and Son Ray Ruffin aka Jimmy Ruffin Jr reported their father's death to the news media, it said that Jimmy had 6 children including his late son Jimmie Ray so Jimmy had a bigger family then David did, Berry Gordys comment on Jimmy was that he was a phenomenal Singer, by 2021 the UK Released two Jimmy's unknown songs he did for Broad Street records call Take me back & make me a winner, so yeah Jimmy was very productive, oh yeah when his brother died in 91 he became an Anti Drug Advocate, on top of that during the early 60's Jimmy put his music career on hold to join the army 🪖 not everyone knows that

I know right but by Jimmy's 77th birthday 🎉🎂 he wanted to do one last Album before his Retirement so he went to Motorcity records and Created his final Album called The Soul Sound of Jimmy Ruffin where he had sung all his songs for the final time including his final song called One In a Million. By 2014 Jimmy was Gravely ill and his family took him to the Las Vegas hospital 🏥 where he stayed in intensive care for a few months till his death on November 17 2014 he died when he was 78. He buried in Las Vegas cemetery 🪦. Two of Jimmy's children Philicia Ruffin and Ray Ruffin aka Jimmy Ruffin Jr reported their father's death to the News media. Jimmy had 6 children including Arlet, Philicia, Jimmie Ray (Deceased) Ray Ruffin aka Jimmy Ruffin Jr, Camilla, and Ophelia. Especially Jimmy's granddaughter Alyana Lee Anderson who's the daughter of Ray Ruffin.

Oh man, this is the first live thing I've ever seen Jimmy do, and he is killin' it! A great, great singer. I was in Army basic training in summer of '66 when this song came out, and had just left my new wife, and this song played every day on the radio station the drill sergeants had playing in the barracks....almost made me cry, 'cause I was brokenhearted to be away from my baby. Thanks so much for putting this up.
