On our way home from our epic road trip of the NC500, we decided to stop off at the abandoned highland cottage which belonged to notorious paedophile Jimmy Saville. Despite many attempts to sell the property, the cottage has laid empty and abandoned since Saville's death in 2011.
Saville bought the remote home in Glencoe in 1998 from renowned Scottish mountaineer and founding member of the Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team, Hamish MacInnes. He once had Prince Charles over for dinner here and It was also featured in the notorious Louis Theroux documentary 'When Louis Met Jimmy'. It is believed that Saville assaulted up to 20 people inside his lair, which to be honest gave us the creeps exploring this place, therefore this was a quick one and we didn't want to stay long!

I have passed this house many times, it is in a very spectacular location and I would quite like to live there. It should be remembered that before Saville it was owned and lived in by one Hamish McInnes who was by any standards a real character of a man who led a life of real adventure and was was a bit of a hero of mine.. The house, like the landscape, is an innocent witness to all that happened there so I can see no reason to vilify it. Anyway, think of what happened in places like the Tower of London! Should they be razed to the ground? The thing that really SHOULD be destroyed is the whole celebrity thing, where we take people of little or no worth or talent and turn them in to some kind of hero or heroine.

I'd move into this little house no problems it's lovely. The fact that Saville lived there is no reason to let this place rot away. Sell it and let someone have happy memories of it. Saville is thankfully dead but this little house isn't ! My mother was abused by her own father from the age of three and went on to have a child by him. I know she would say the same as me that this house should be lived in.

@@lindasmith518 My mum was amazing she would willingly talk to people about her abuse and once went on the Trisha Show to talk about it with my sister\ aunt. My mum got pregnant by her own father at the age of fifteen and was sent off to one of those awful single parent places to have the baby who was to be put up for adoption. Afterwards she was sent back home as no one believed her that her own father was abusing her. To cut a very long story short..... Unbeknown to both my mum's daughter and herself they ended up with the same doctor who managed to get them reunited. I absolutely loved my sister Anne and she and I had so much fun watching people expressions when I tell them she was my sister but then would call her auntie Anne! Abuse should be talked in the public arena as it is unfortunately a reality as you yourself know. My younger sister wouldn't talk to my mum after she went on the Trisha Show saying you shouldn't wash dirty linen in public and I totally disagree with her as did my mum. If people are not aware that sexual abuse happens then it will continue to happen. Sadly my mum passed away last October but even then she put up a fight..... I was told by doctors that she would be dead within a week but she kept going for a good seven mo the more ! She was a tiny woman with a big heart and lived and loved life to the full.

What a quaint little cottage it is ... It would be lovely if someone restored the place as it had been lived in and loved well before JS lived there. Trouble is it will be a marked house now and not remembered by who first lived in that place. I bet with some love and attention it could be restored back to its former glory. Its a shame to see these properties damaged and abandoned like this and I hope one day someone will take it on. Thanks for showing us round.

I fail to understand what pleasure people get out of vandalising property that does not belong to them. The property as done nothing wrong and could make a very nice home for someone but now they would be frightened of vandals or thieves approaching the property when they were tucked up in bed. The property nodoubt belongs to Savill's estate and there are many victims who have a valued interest in the property so if you attack the house you are in affect attacking all these victims again.
