Jimmy Swaggart- "Will the Circle Be Un-broken?" (rare!! 1970)

This message was preached in 1970 at Brightmoor Tabernacle in Detroit, Michigan. It seems that this was quite a lengthy revival. Swaggart remarks in the message that he had been there for nine weeks, and that the pastor was ill. The sermon deals with family issues and the importance of the Christian home. It is indeed remarkable to sense the anointing of God that once rested upon this man. Oh what a tragedy. May God search all of our hearts and strip us of foolish pride.

18 Jelly donuts. Frances wasn't sick but I bet Jimmy was! 😊 I remember something of what Jimmy was talking about re: *parents* who were too busy drinking to care less where their kids were. There was drinking in my *parents* home. Abuse. My mother was sexually promiscious and then had the nerve to say she didn't want kids. I wasn't out of grade school when I decided I would NOT end up like my mother. Thank God, my example was a classmate's mom who was happy to drive me to church with her, even when her own kids did want to go. I OWE my salvation to my friend who invited me to church and her mom who discipled me.

I have cassette tapes of his from 35 years ago, the 1981 Campmeeting in Long Beach, CA. They play about like yours. I tried to get CD's from his organization but no luck. I know their '81 Camp in B.R. is on DVD's :(

Just purchased a copy of this vinly record today at a thrift store near Detroit. Knew I'd find it on KZbin. Thanks for posting the recording. His ministry proves it's not how you fall, but how you get up and reset your course that matters. 🙏🏼

Sadly, Jimmy is still surrounded by bitter board members who discouraged him from accepting an offer from the Assemblies of God about 4 years ago for complete restoration of his ordination with them.

Bond Bowman was the pastor of Brightmoor Tabernacle in 1970. The Rev. Tom Trask later became pastor, then Michigan District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, then General Treasurer, and later, the General Superintendent of the General Council of the A/G in Springfield, Missouri. Rev. Brad Trask is now pastor, and Brightmoor Tabernacle has undergone a name change.

I remember how that old-fashioned preachers used to preach the gospel strict, straight, stern and strong. Now, you're lucky if ya hear any of this kind of old-fashioned preaching at all! Little by little, the Devil found ways to eliminate true old-fashioned preaching and singing gospel hymns. Now, in most churches, all you hear is love, love, love, and no repentance. The sacred hymns have been replaced with so-called Christian rock. There is no such thing as Christian rock! That junk is of the devil! Let's go back to the old landmarks of the Holiness of God's word, and also, let's dump the junky, trash that we call Christian rock, and let's sing songs, Psalms, and spiritual songs, just like the Bible says to!!!!!

I Think you are judging him he made a mistake he was human I think Gods anointing is back on Bro Swaggart maybe a lesson you need to learn

+250rudy I worked for him for several years. I guarantee I forget more in one day than you will ever know about Jimmy Swaggart. It's not a question of "judging". Rather it is a case of examining "fruit" both before and after his sexual failures.

@@eflint1 I know this comment is very old but I must say that Jimmy has talked about his scandals. He did admit that he did become full of pride and he said the Lord allowed his sexual scandals to come to light in order to cripple and to break him. We've all been there before, how many times did God have to rebuke David? You say how you worked for him, is that supposed to give you some credibility or something? Just because you worked for him doesn't mean you were close to him. Plus many have worked for Jimmy and many absolutely love him so what's your point? You talk about examining fruit but what did he preach back then that's any different than what he preaches now? Nothing except the fact that now that you know he was struggling with something you just can't look at him the same which speaks of spiritual immaturity. Do you know how I know? Because you called this message from the 1970s "anointed" and how this was at his best because you think this was before he got into all the scandals without realizing even then he was doing the scandals. He was struggling with pornography since the '60s so what are you gonna say about these sermons?

@@bryceharris2175 the fruit I was referring to is not the sexual sin. am referring to the fruit displayed in the harsh way the Swaggarts treat people, in the pulpit and behind the scenes. It is appalling. FYI, I have made several trips to JSM in the past 2 years. I see some encouraging signs, but time will tell.

Remember 2 things.... let he/she who is without sin cast the first stone. Second, the story of the Prodical Son. Luke 15:11---> People backslide. God willing they will return. I backslid and returned. "He who comes to me I will, by no means cast out."
