Loved watching Jimmy in the '80s and '90s. What the interviewer said at the end about Jimmy being really pleasant is so true. He's a really nice man and a great ambassador for snooker. All the best Jimmy.

Me and my brother went to see Jimmy White and Steve Davis play at the Derby assembly rooms in the 80s and before they started the game they were having their photos taken shaking hands and my brother ( who had a few sherbet’s) shouted out Come on Alex and everybody laughed including White and Davis 👍

My dad used to regale stories of the sportsmen & women of his childhood. Told in a way that we'll(therefore I, deprived of as child) never see their likes again. I think, idolising my dad as I did, I hung on every word. The Lisbon Lions, Muhammad Ali, Pele & Grincha to name only a few. Now that hes gone I think of those times and smile because, I was anything but deprived, and my father being around at the same time being the difference here. I had diego Maradona Seve Ballesteros and my two heroes Jimmy White & Ayrton Senna daSilva all in their absolute Prime, exactly at the same time. I've never been one for Golf but I'd watch Seve all day. They are each others equivalent in their respective sports...... that bloody good. Not even slightly hungry dad never mind deprived??.... sorry for waffling but nobody could argue with the sentiment, more likely to add more names. Ladies, give me a sportswoman on that level that I'm clearly forgetting as I'm not having Zola Budd she was amazing but nowhere near wizardry level...... Yesssss got there before I got shouted at! Martina!!! Yeah, not even up for debate either........

The snooker club Jimmy spoke about early on where he cut his teeth was Zans Snooker Hall in Tooting where I often saw Jimmy and Tony Meo fleecing the club members regularly. I was working up in Trinity Road as a postman at the time and as I had every afternoon off spent many an hour in Zans, obviously not long enough to get as good as Jimmy or Tony..... Happy days... I think Zans is still functioning as before.... worth a visit!

I would not say it's lack of practice. Back in the 80s players practiced more of a safety game. There's no doubt 70s and 80s players had a much better safety game than modern players. I mean that snooker Alex Higgins put Steve Davis in, in UK championship, hitting the Brown to put the cue ball behind the Green that won him the championship,, was just considered a good shot... That would have been shot of the championship these days . Some shots in the 80s that was just considered a good safety would get shot of the championship in the modern game. I mean Ray Reardon, Terry Griffiths, Steve Davis had players in trouble every time they went to the table. People say the players have improved, but I disagree and say players have changed. I think Alex Higgins, Jimmy White and Jo Johnson was the benchmark of refusing the safety and going for shots. I think Joe Johnson really took it to another level where he wasn't even playing safety and had a fantastic run...

Jimmy was kind of a victim of the times, up until him and Alex the snooker road was full of Allegros and Peugot estates, their 'drive it like you nicked it' natural talents could afford to weave through the traffic with little discipline, little did they know in a garage down the road Steve Davis was building a Porsche and a younger lad up in Scotland was poring over plans for a Ferrari

Jimmy i have met you...unfortunately i disagree with you about your biggest mistake. In 1986 i met you at the Grosvenor hotel in Sheffield. Now I remember because the next day you had to play in the Quarters against of all people Steve Davis. That particular night I will never forget because the whole room was abuzz...everyone in the room was just drinking & partying hard ...including you. Anyhow early in the night Steve Davis walks in with his dad & they went into another room isolated from the crowd. About 1am me & me mate walk out the Grosvenor and who should i see ...you and Alex getting into a cab...and i guarantee you two weren't going to bed...one can only guess. I was amazed that you were still partying?? Anyhow the next day Steve hammered you (still got the '86 World Snooker programme). No Jimmy ...your biggest mistake wasn't waiting 2 years to go pro...it was getting led astray by Alex Higgins...by all means keep him as a very good friend but certainly don't follow his ways...even the greatest of all said it...Ronnie loved & idolised you but he was never going to follow your lifestyle if he was going to be a winner...
