"Ronnie is selfish" TRANSLATION: Ronnie won't let me control him for my own benefit 🤣
@EannaButler2 жыл бұрын
🙏 True, but while he absolutely puts himself first, all boats rise with the tide, he pulls up those around him too. Has the others here have said, "love him or hate him, he raised snooker, darts and 9 ball pool from the dead"... A world without snooker, without all these competitions nowadays, would be a poorer world. My brain hates him, my heart loves him. Ah well...

You know, there are famous philosophers, psychiatrists, and psychologists who educate us on how to live a better life, some miraculous, some not. But in tis interview, Barry Hearn is offering us gems of wisdom that we should take heed off. Education is all fine and dandy, but some of the greatest people have never stepped foot inside a lecture but can make a huge success. As a young promising Snooker player myself decades ago, and with all the ability in the world, I was in that circle. Thing is, that word 'Pressure' got to me many times over, but as older man I truly understand what Barry means by 'Pressure' being the wrong word. He made Steve Davis, and Steve Davis made him, through skill, work-ethic, psychology, belief, and friendship. It's so great to see and hear a side toBarry Hearn that I had never though possible before. He hasn't, even though he made it, forgot his working-class roots-and the fact that he even tried his hand at a Bertolt Brecht play made me smile widely. Great and insightful interview. What a real charming/intelligent man. Yes, Barry, I did beat Steve Davis at Bury Leisure Centre back in '93, although I think Steve wasn't really trying. I was... thanks for the memories, Barry. x

Love him or hate him, He raised snooker, darts and 9 ball pool from the dead. They'd all diminished in popularity by the mid 2000s and the money wasn't there. But Hearns' wheeling and dealing did the job.

I wouldn't call myself selfish.. But I used to turn up to angling matches half-cut from the night before, probably after smoking a couple of joinjts on the way, slurring my words and never giving a cr4p which peg was the flyer...... Then totally annihialate everyone else that turns up. When you're good at something to the point that you win even in that state.... It becomes boring!!! Ronnie is in a league of his own, the epitome of a champion... Even when he's playing well and dominating tournements, I can relate when he looks like he couldn't give a toss!!
