Check out the bakeries in Mexico for awesome rolls and pastries. Also, along the gulf you can find huge shrimp at reasonable prices. Salsa in the stores is also a bargain and very good! Safe travels!

Hopefully you have air compressor with you, if needed. Remember you can take your tire pressure down to 10 or 15 lb if you get stuck on the sand. Take your pressure down and you will drive right out if you get stuck. It's scary to take your tire pressure down that low but it works, I know from experience. It's better to reduce tire pressure as soon as you get stuck, if you do then to wait too long to reduce air pressure.

I have traveled to Baja California several times. All of the way to Cabo San Lucas once. The trips were all great, and I did not have any issues with theft, although I met people who did have problems. There was one $50 “speeding ticket.” The vast majority of my time was at Playa Escondida on the Bay of Conception. It is my favorite beach. There is a 200 mile gap between gas stations, the last station is in El Rosario. There was a sign, but it was after the gas station. Also, in Santa Rosalia there is a gas station with one pump set up for Gringos. If you need gas there make sure you see a local using the pump before you do. The Gringo’s pump can fit 20 gallons of gas into a 15 gallon tank. Enjoy your trip! I enjoyed all of mine.

YEARS AGO, You used to be able to drive to northern Mx on the mainland & drive your van onto a rail flatcar. The train would travel thu Mx copper canyon which is Mx grand canyon. You would be allowed to travel inside your van the whole trip. The train made several stops along the canyon route letting you get out & picture take or lunch at a cafe or whatever. It was great fun. BUT some years ago, the flatbed Rv tour was cancelled. Dangit. !

I spent several years near Loretto, and my grandparents spents 20 winters in La Ventana (South of La Paz) in the campground there. Lots of fun activities, wind surfing, fishing, etc. I'm so happy you're exploring baja!

Baja is ok this time of year, It is much easier to go with someone who has been there before and knows how to follow the rules. Read the State Department Travel Warnings. Read the US Customs rules, and the Mexican rules for what you can pass across the boarder. Yes Mexico has official web pages on boarder crossings. Respect all the rules including speed limits. It is just another "ride down the road" to those of us that live on the boarder and frequently cross into Mexico.

So, going into Baja you don't need a TIP (temporary import permit) and Mexican insurance for your van? That's why we crossed it off our trip...the Insurance would have cost $1,000! Maybe it's just for the main part of Mexico? Can't wait to see where you go!

It was on the click bait. I think it was Josh's channel. The guy that traveled Mexico with Maddie Gold now separated. When they were together they had a lot of viewers. The higher prices must be hard on the people who have moved there on a budget.

Donde esta la Bibliotecha? 30 years ago, the only time I drove the length of Baja, the main north/south road was only about 16' wide, large trucks would drive with their wheel on the center line, thus if you were driving in the opposite direction to said trucks you had to slow down and pull over to the edge of the road.

Was wondering what was up with you guys ,,I'm dying to do Baja ! That being said if you do get pulled over by the police don't pay ! Make them take you to the station to pay Most likely they are just trying to get a pay raise for the day,,and they will never take you (or have you drive ) to the station because its a scam !
