It's been a decade since I've been to Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) so I appreciate your current tour. With State Dept advisory not to take the road from Nogales because of cartel activity, I'm not likely to go again soon. The last two times I was there I stayed at Sandy Beach. It looks like it has improved immensely. Since you're close, you may want to cruise down to Kino Bay, a fabulous oceanfront town with as many Arizonans as Rocky Point.

The left lane/s are for vehicles not declaring anything, ie importing taxable merchandise and what not. The far right lane is for people declaring something, and its also for people driving further into Mexico for long periods of time and temporarily importing a vehicle. Also, if your vehicle has a lot of cargo or you have an RV or similar, you will go thru an inspection by Mexican customs.

My brother n laws cousins went for a couple of generations just fine until that one time they came home with an empty toy hauler. They were riding their toys around for a couple of days without any problems. Then it was either the Federales or Policia that stopped them after watching for a couple of days and took all the toys and made them pay cash for riding the toys in an apairently restricted area.

We're trying to sleep more than two, so we're intrigued by the units with pop up rooves. We like the Mercedes chassis over the Pro Master chassis, but haven't seen any Mercedes with that feature. Also, knowing what you know now, would you still recommend a Thor product on the Pro Master, specifically the Tellaro which you have now. We know his name is Mr. Lemon so that gives us pause. Thanks!

@charminbaer23238 ай бұрын
I went to Rocky Point for the first time last year on our way back from Arizona to California. My friends and I decided to stay in Rocky Point for the night and make it an adventure. I can't remember which border crossing we took, but it was a tiny one that closed after a certain hour i think. There wasn't much with regards to police, customs, national guard, etc.. once we crossed into Mexico. In fact, as soon as we crossed, we got stopped by a large group of men asking for money in exchange for getting our windows cleaned, but these were grown men. Usually its kids doing this sort of stuff, which led us to believe these were probably men related to the cartel and looking to see who is coming in to their territory and what they're bringing because they were looking inside and in the bed of the truck. They clearly mobbed us and blocked the road so we couldn't go around them. Other than that, it was uneventful. We actually stayed at a hotel right next to Playa Bonita from the look of your drone footage, so that's cool. Well not next to it, but pretty damn close, down the shore from it, maybe a few hundred yards. On the way out back to CA, we did run into a military checkpoint and saw several soldiers patrolling on foot along the road. We then stopped at that actual inspection station where they apparently scan all vehicles. Made it to Mexicali and thats where we crossed over back to the US.

Thanks for watching! Funny story about gasoline. When we got there we had a little over 1/2 tank and there is a gas station pretty close to the RV park. We thought perfect when we leave we will fill up before making the trip back. Except for when we left it was closed. We could have went into the town, there were a few gas stations but we decided to just wait until we got to San Luis. Which we did and got gas right before getting in line to wait for the border crossing.
