Just to clarify, in NASCAR the yellow line rule or double yellow line or what have you (line the delineates the apron from the racing surface) is ONLY in effect at Super Speedways. Daytona, Talladega and now Atlanta due to its reconfiguration. On these 3 tracks its an actual rule, no passing below the yellow line. All other ovals its fair game even below the inside line.
@fallen2820

Definitely not the black trucks fault. There was room, the other truck moved off the yellow line for the draft. The black truck moved up inside above the yellow line and the other truck tried to defend late and moved the black truck below the line. The black truck tried to move back to the track a few times but the other truck was bumping him down until he spun on the apron.

Small correction Jim Mer. 13:32 In Oval Racing, Especially in NASCAR there's no such thing as track limits. You can go anywhere. The only exception are tracks where pack racing happens, like Daytona, Talladega and now - Atlanta. There you're prohibited from putting a tire below the double yellow line to advance your position. If you do so, you either give it right back, or get a penalty

What I've learned from watching these clips: A lot of sim racers think giving the other driver just their own car width of space is enough. No one seems to be accounting for them locking brakes or missing their line. Everyone seems to think "But I had the line" and so that makes it ok to drive over people's noses and pinch them and give them no room at all. They are trying to completely shut out the other person's momentum and that's just not good racing. Give them room, race them hard, race them clean. It's ok to lose but lose graciously. Don't win being an asshole.
@semdezeeuw1203
@semdezeeuw1203 2 жыл бұрын
Dude I know what you mean but some people get enough room but they haven't heard of braking or throttle controle. If i give you enough space. Like 1.5/2 car widths than I have dealt my fair playing card. His line is also my line. But when I overtake you with enough space and have my car in front of you in a turn your should brake slightly just to not hit me. Why do you think that formula 1 racing is so agressive...... they ram their cars right in front of you. You have to anticipate upon it and immidiat react to that. You have to give eachother some room. But also if you get overtaken slow a bit down. You have enough corners to overtake them.....

The yellow line rule is only for what used to be known as restrictor plate racing tracks. Thats talladega and daytona. They also used that rule for atlanta this past march as it was essentially the same package as those tracks. Its a safety thing. Any other oval track, you can pass below the line on the bottom.

What I always tell myself before and during a race is to forget everything about winning the race and instead just focus on safely passing the car in front of me. When you try to go for the win you tend to forget about safety because it will require an extraordinary effort to pass several cars, and that means you have to take a lot of risks. Focus on your current position only, and be aware of potential opportunities for overtaking.

Nice to see a PC2 clip; that game got me back into sim-racing after many years off the genre so is a game I have a massive soft-spot for. The point about using your head is probably one of the best messages you could give sim-racers. The penultimate clip, with the Ferrari and Porsche, saying how the Porsche could have just backed out slightly, been smart and just slip-streamed back past on the next straight is a really good one; so often we get done in a corner and see the tinniest of openings and the red-mist will descend with the thought process of "Oh no you don't, I'm going to have you here" followed immediately by an incident, when the best thing to do is just take a breath and stay calm.

The song in the background from 2:25 to 4:50 is "Heartbeat, Heartbreak" or more accurately a rendition of it that has been edited, it's a song from Persona 4, you should check the song and the game out, P4 is a fantastic game with one of the best soundtracks ever created.

I actually really like this series. Love to have your input as to how to improve. Maybe you could do a similar series for other ways to improve? OH! And I just preordered my Team87 hoodie!

Just excellent info!! I am by no means a pro sim racer, but to hear the aspects of the rules or code of conduct broken down like this ... I'm soaking it up. Cheers for that. Love the channel mate.

Hi Jimmy. Just a heads up. Seems like someone is impersonating you and trying to scam folks into believing they just won a sim rig. Person would not provide any bit of proof I was chatting to you, which in todays climate, most will understand seems a red flag. Just letting you know.

That last one was some crazy good close F1 racing for online sim racing actually. Rare to see that without getting effed by internet/netcode

the fact that in the first part of the video there's heartbeat heartbreak from P4 in the background makes this extremely good.

In the second clip, the white car and the car in front braked at the same time, only the car in front was about 3-4 car lengths ahead. The #20 wasn't brake checked, but they wouldn't have been expecting the white car to brake so early...

That project cars Indy incident is a classic example of why you don't try to go around the front of a crashed/stationary car in online racing.

10:39 I had a wreck like that irl once, (enduro racing with average daily drivers, i was in a blue buick) I was in the spun out cars position. I emedietly held the brakes to stop myself, and when I came to a stop I had just enough time to look left at oncoming traffic and see a purple chevy hit my driver door at about 50 mph. No idea how i walked away but I'm glad i did. Ps. The video of the full race is on my channel

I totally feel you on the arm injury, I dislocated my thumb doing a run in Dirt Rally 2.0 on stream. I had to put a steering wheel knob on my rig so I could still play in automatic mode. xD

I am sure others have commented on it as well but for ovals, onto the apron or below the yellow line rule is only on what is considered superspeedway crashes. Example Daytona and Talladega. And in real life Atlanta this year

If I was driving that Aston Martin I would have defended on the outside, move slightly to the inside to give him the narrower Angle, leading to the second corner you will have a clear advantage

15:20 doesn't even need braking. That's all on the Ferrari's fault. Poor perception on his part. That corner is relatively shallow that you don't need brakes to enter it. Just lift off, turn in and then slowly power it out the corner and you can still hang on the outside. That "I need that apex" move was slightly moronic and impeding the Porsche.

@11:15 well one could ALSO (in addition to) argue when you are coming up fast on a car that just spun and is sideways on the track... 90% of the time if they are going to try and get out of the way, they are going to HIT THE GAS AND MOVE FORWARD. Your MUCH better avoidance line, is going BEHIND THE SPUN CAR, NOT IN FRONT!!! Same goes for a walking pedestrian, it will ALWAYS be safer to walk BEHIND the stopped car than in front. Why is this such a hard concept for even experienced racers ?

8:45 Taking more control or initiative in your racing. Giving too much control to the other driver will always give them moves that might feel like they're in the wrong. Learning to control the opponents position since you do you the control going into if you control the amount of space he has ect. Giving space just give him the opportunity to do moves and allows for unpredictable racing.
